I was making cheesecake last week and i went to buy the ingredients, one of them was Sour Cream but i didnt find it, i looked in Alcampo, big supermarket and Hipercor, instead i used French Cream, "creamfrech" cant remember how to spell it, sorry!. Anybody has bought this here before, i also looked for "nata agria" but nothing. Impossible to buy blueberries either. If i manage to find everything i will share the cake!!!
Thanks and Regards<br /> Ruth and Thom

I've used Creme Freisch in the past as well. It's a good substitute. However, this past weekend, I found sour creme 'como dios manda' for the first time ever inside of the Hipercor at Xanad in Arroyomolinos in the Mexican food section of all places. They also had Peanut butter and Maseca, which is used to make tamales, flour tortillas, enciladas, etc. I was in heaven.
You may want to check an Hipercor in your area. Hopefully they'll have a similar selection. Good luck...

Hola: You can make your own sour cream using creme fraiche or "real" cream, the kind used in coffee or for whipping. Just add a tablespoon of lemon juice per cup of cream, stir it up well and let it stand for a couple of hours; then pour off the accumulated liquid. Et voila!

hey ruth and tom..... if you buy the yogurt called Yogur Griego it is a dead ringer for sour cream. Danone makes the best. I use it anytime a recipe calls for sour cream. It is delish.
btw...when are we going to meet you at a mm partee? we missed you last time.

I'm no expert, being a reknown "cheese-phobic" :b: and all, but when I worked at Taste of America, they "instructed" me to refer people who asked about sour cream to the 'quesitos Quark', they're from Danone I believe....

They have quark here??? We have that in Amsterdam and the vanilla flavor is wicked good. I always thought it was some type of yogurt though, I didn't know it was cheese. Dannon vanilla kwark is really good drizzled on apple pie.
