hey Melinda, you do not need to buy them at all. you can get posters for free at the tourist offices here. they have some nice ones of the "espaa verde" that you will love and with this being an "ao xacobeo", they have gone all out with galicia posters. your best bet are the main tourist offices. these are ones that cover all of spain and not just madrid for example. try... Patronato Municipal de Turismo Calle Mayor 69, Madrid Tel.: 91 588 29 00 Direccin General de Turismo Calle Principe de Vergara 24, Madrid Tel.: 91 580 22 00 TurEspaa Calle Jos Lzaro Galdiano 6, Madrid Central Tel.: 91 343 35 00 Tel. normal: 901 300 600 Also, the tourist office at... Calle Conde Duque de Medinaceli, 2 Tel.: 91 429 49 51 ... has stuff for all of spain. i recommend you call the above resources and tell them you are a spanish teacher visiting from the u.s.a. and that you want to get all the posters you can. this is what i did when i was backpacking all over spain years ago. i was a teacher and really did need the posters to decorate my classroom. every city i went to i would stop into the tourist office and ask for posters, they were always really nice and geneous with them. too bad you did not go into the tourist office in santander this past weekend and ask there, i am surte they would have given you a ton of cool posters saludos, jer...

When we were in Spain in 1999, we visited the tourist offices in the towns we were in and we were able to obtain posters. Some were free but the majority we had to pay for them, although the price was very minimal, about 100 pesetas each. Irene

Still not a bad price. The conversion back then was about $.75 and they measured about 16x20 inches, and the paper was not very thin. We mailed, from Spain, three poster rolls back to the states. Eack roll held approximately 6 or 7 posters. Irene

The tourist offices in the U.S. (Florida) used to give these free years ago. I recently called Miami and New York to get some for a library display and they did not have any to give or sell. I guess on my next trip I will have to stock up!

I loooooove it. The people are SO INCREDIBLY NICE there. Seriously I have NEVER been treated so well in my life and its been that way both times Ive been there. When guys call you guapa on the street apparently people there say thank you and return the compliment. Every time someone passed us entering a restaurant they would tell us "aproveche" before sitting down. My friend said a few weeks ago she got caught in traffic after the Busta concert and a group of guys called her guapa then jumped out of their car and dressed as tuneros sang to her until traffic started to move. But mostly I love it because one of my best friends lives in Camargo. Shes been bugging me to come for months now. I never had a weekend off to go and didnt want to ask for one, knowing my friend was coming from NY and I was going to Almeria the following weekend. The family said they were going to Belmonte so the very next day I was on the bus. Its just so peaceful and quiet there. But at the same time not boring. I just love the people. Everyone is so nice. Ill check out the sites... some of them Ive seen before. Im looking for POSTERS, though, not photos. Becky gave me a CD full of pictures of Santander. Ive never seen anyone as proud of where theyre from as she is. I left with a CD of photos of her city, a little anjana figurine, three necklaces with celtic cantabrian signs, a CD of traditional music and a "pais kantabro" flag. Insane but I love her Melinda

I was there yesterday - thats where the tourism office is. THEY HAVE FOOD THERE?!?! I can buy quesada in Madrid?! WHAT FLOOR?! Hold me back!! hehehe I keep telling my friends that I almost wish the family Im working for would fire me so I can go live with Becky for a month She says there are VERY few native english teachers there and I would most definitely teach English to stay there for a month. But not much longer... I cant stand teaching. Especially English. We went to every pastry shop in Potes, 3 in San Vicente de la Barquera and 2 in Santander trying to get one specific brand of quesada and sobao. Finally got it at the hospital pastry shop. I still have a little bit left... Not as yummy as the first day but still VERY good Do you know if they have the brand "El Macho"? Its the best of all the kinds Ive tried and my friends family says so, too. Food store info!! Must stock up before I go!! Melinda

Yes they've got sobaos from "casa olmo" , and quesada, and corbatas from Unquera..... but, I've been today and they are "de inventario" so I guess better try next week, or ring them before going....... The shop is in the first floor, left hand side.... Well, next fest I might cook "almejas a la marinera" or similar........ Well, you can do other things apart from teaching, my "vecina de toda la vida" has a house in Guriezo and a few days ago told me that "They've got an Irish there running a "kiosko", well he is the only foreigner in Guriezo......... jajajaja he is an "institucin" and cops go there to practice their english..... And......... have a look here: http://www.cantabriajoven.com/gastronomia/index.html Que aproveche!!!!!!!! BTW, in Cantabria when we meet someone we know with someone we don't konw we use to say, Hello Melinda y compaia.... they do not in Madrid, they only say hello Melinda.....
