I am wondering if Japanese green tea bags are readily available in the stores of Madrid or Toledo? I am visiting a friend in Madrid and she had told me she liked green tea. I am thinking of bringing it as a gift for her. Of course it will be a bad idea if green tea is found at every corner.

Gracias!

Yes, green tea is found at least in the best supermarkets (I don't know if in all of them), and also in most restaurants; however, is the Japanese kind a special one, or is it all Japanese? (sorry, I really like green tea too, but I'm no expert [Embarassed] )

Thanks pim, this one got by me until now.

otago, you can find green tea at Carrefour (one of the huge "hipermercados" here in the outskirts of the cities).

I too am a bit naive about the finer points of green tea.

Saludos,
jer...

Hello,

You can find Chinese and Japanese green tea in
Chinese stores. Some of them are at:
Plaza de Espaa, C/ Embajadores, Cuatro Caminos and C/ General Margallo

Thanks for all your replies. Actually I wanted to find out if green tea is commonly sold in Madrid and it doesn't seem to be so. In that case, I can bring it as a gift from where I live to my friend in Spain. I'm sure she would appreciate a novelty item than something that she could get from her neighbourhood store.

I think Japanese green tea has a rather distinct taste compared to other green teas (ie. teas that are not roasted)
