I have a question for anyone who has purchased a new appliance and discarded an old one. At long last, I have decided to buy a new refrigerator for my apartment. (The one I currently have is probably older than many of the members of this forum.) Are any stores willing to take away your old appliance or will I be left to fend for myself? I don't mind paying, I just want to know if this service exists or if I have to get someone to remove the fridge separately.

Thanks.

hey noia.

ask at the store where you bought the new one if they can take away the old or if they can tell you who can.

if that gets you nowhere and the fridge still works (even if it is oooooold), you could place an ad (free classified) in a few barcelona ex-pat papers/websites...

- http://www.barcelonaconnect.com (online and in print)
- http://www.barcelona-metropolitan.com (online and in print)
- http://www.loquo.com (online only)

as well as offering it up here on multimadrid (we have a lot of members and lurkers from barcelona).

you would be surprised at how many people would love to come and get it for free as long as it is in working order. an old working refridgerator is better than none at all and many students and or newbies to barcelona may not have one.

saludos,
jer...

I'm pretty sure the store that brings the new one will take away the old one. That is happening for me with (1) my bed and would have happened with the (2) washing machine except it is like four times the size of the new one, so they balked. It seems to be a free (for the bed) or close to free (thought it was going to be 5 euros for the washing machine) service.

Thanks Jer and Schwendy,

I may be able to give it away, but I doubt any one would buy it.
