Try also Bershka at Calle Preciados and Pull&Bear and Stradivarius at Calle Carretas, both for youngsters mainly. Zara and H&M are a bit more seriuos. Both streets are in Puerta del Sol area and have many other clothing shops too.

Hey ukie, welcome to the group. Ditto on all of the above. Also, check out the following threads already on the board for more advice... 1) "Clothing in Spain; What is it like?"2) "blanco"3) "Shopping for shoes in Madrid "If ena were here right now she would surely add "Lefties" to the list, it is a store on Calle Carretas right across the street from Pull&Bear mentioned by vdiaz above. "Lefties" is what it's name suggests, they sell the previous season's clothes as well as slightly irregular items at MEGA discount prices. Since the past season's fashions will still be WAY stylin and ahead of U.S. standards, it is no big deal. Thing is that here in Spain, by Febuary, the spring line is already "out" and the winter line gets discounted. There is also a new store called "Xanaka" on the floor above a store called "Pimlie" (surely also of interest to your daughter) on Calle Preciados just off Sol. You actually go into "Pimlie" and on your right just as you enter there is an escalator to go up to "Xanaka". Their website is at www.xanaka.com but they have not updated and added the Madrid store to it yet. Ena has told me that "Xanaka" has great clothes at cheap prices. There is a store on the corner of Calle Preciados and Calle Tetun (right near all the rest) called "Miss 60" and it seems to be all the rage for the teeniebopper gals lately but it is E.X.P.E.N.S.I.V.E. compared to a lot of other stores mentioned on this thread. So, as you can see, you really need not wander more than one block in either direction from Puerta del Sol to fins all that you need (or could ever want). I do need to ask you however what datesd you will be in Madrid? You see, these stores are not open every Sunday. While Saturday is a full-on shopping day. last I looked these stores were only open the first Sunday of the month. If ya don't plan well you could end up doomed to shopping for clothes at "El Cort Ingls" One last thing, your being from NJ and being used to not paying ANY sales tax on clothing, Spain will be a shocker as the sales tax here is 16%. All of these stores (and more) should have the "Tax Free for Tourists" sign up, take advantage of ut, you will save a small fortune!!! Saludos, jer...

Try Pinkie (sol area, close to el corte ingles) and Tomato also Cortefiel is a bit more like Zara, but they have party clothes also (less serious) I'm a big Zara fan, and they have a Jr. section. Also, try Mango, there is one close to so, but its in the tribunal area, right on the Calle Fuencarral. Upstairs they have the bargan section! Mango also has a variety of clothing, more serious/professional, to chic and playful. Also, I've found some good stuff at Torero, its also on the calle fuencarral, close to the end where fuencarral hits gran via! If you're going to do the Tax free like Jer says (good idea, but you have to spend $150 min. at the store) they give you a form that you later have to hand in at the airport. Check the cash option, its better you exchange the euros later, I chose once for the corte ingles to put the money back on my credit card, and they were nice enough to ignore my wishes, sent me a check that I couldn't cash! So lesson learned, I'd rather the cash in the hand!

Hey espe3, good to have ya back on the board I concur, if you have a teenage girl, "Pimkie" is key. I have never seen anyone over the age of 18 in there when walking by. quote: "Also, try Mango, there is one close to so, but its in the tribunal area, right on the Calle Fuencarral"
There is a Mango on Calle Arenal just off Puerta del Sol but they do not have the "M2" (Mango2) discount section that the one on Calle Fuencarral has upstairs. Saludos, jer...
