I googled it like this: "Twin Peaks" "Zona 2" and a bunch of stuff comes back. I am not sure what you think is too expensive, but obviouly a series like this for less than 50 euros you will not find it legally...

Here is a link to a store that has it for like 70 euros, (out of stock right now, though)

Coming back to this thread... Have just discovered a few more DVD rental spots. Down with Blockbuster!!

--Diurno on Calle Libertad in Chueca (on the other side of the street from the Dosa place where we went for the last mm get-together). It's a combination cafe/dvd rental shop. They have an amazing selection of foreign films and a better selection of good Spanish films than I've seen elsewhere. The DVDs are split onto two floors, make sure to go up the stairs to see the part that is organized by director--this is where the best stuff is. They also have screening and film discussions on Friday nights and Saturday mornings (which I'd like to check out sometime if anyone is interested, let me know). 3 Euros to rent with abonos available, as well. Some rentals are 48 hours, new releases 24 hours.

--Septimo Arte--They have a location in Alonso Martinez, but I recently discovered that they also have a location close to Opera. It's on Calle Amnistia. I'm going to check it out tomorrow...will report back...

Went to Diurno this morning in search of "A Christmas Story" (Una Historia de Navidad) with Peter Billingsly. Nice place, polite and quick service, good selection, but in the end, no cigarro.

So it seems "A Christmas Story" is nowhere to be had in Madrid. I've checked Blockbuster, Corte Ingles, FNAC, etc., and even looked under both the spanish and english names for the film.

The only place that seems to have it is Amazon and they only have it in NTSC region 1. Grrr.....

We checked out Septimo Arte (on Almirante, right next to Opera). I have no idea how we missed it...we've walked right by there a million times... They also have another branch in Alonso Martinez, I think.

I think this is the best we've found so far. They have a great selection of DVDs--lots of hard to find, obscure stuff, foreign films, and classic American movies (though I don't know about A Christmas Story...).

It's a bit pricier than Devedeteca and Diurno. They make you buy a ten movie "abono" for 35 Euros. Though they have specials--on Monday or Tuesday they let you rent two movies for the price of one. They also let you keep the movies two nights.
