Anyone know of a shop that does reparis to handbags (leather)?
(area: N.W [A-6 corridor] or Madrid centro).

I'm rather tired of popping into various shoe repair places and hoping that they also do bags - - only to be repeatedly dissapointed. The chain"/franchise places seem to have taken over this category of shops and they do not have the talent that the former artisans did.

This is just some pretty simple leather stitching and a somewhat more complex replacement/repair of a rolled seam.

If someone has a source that they're reasonably sure of I would love to hear about it.

Hey Willson...

These links may be of interest to you, I don't say they will be exactly what you are looking for, but, they will at least give you a better idea of what is available out there, and I found many many more links in my search when I was looking for companies that repair/fix/restore hand bags (bolsos) and leather goods etc, so if you want the full search results, just let me know and i;ll send em over.

check out these links for now though, and see if you get a good lead from them.

There's a place on San Bernardo called 'El Sanatorio del Calzado' that have done great work for me over the years; repaired, replaced and remade belts, boots and my trusty flying jacket. it's near the corner of C/Estrella just accross the street from Hotel Alexandria. There's another on C/Gravina in Chueca, just off C/Hortaleza which I pass by regularly and they say they specialise in bag repairs but don't hold me to that.

There is an artisans shoe repair shop that has been around for years on Jos Ortega y Gassett almost at the corner of Serrano (diagonal from El Corte Ingls). I've been in the inquire about the cost of replacing entire heels on a pair of shoes. They have the artisan shoe makers lined up at a workbench on the right as you walk in.

I saw numerous bags of all kinds there, so I imagine they handle the bag repairs too. Buyer beware, the price of the work goes right along with the level of the neighborhood. They quoted me 35 to replace the heels on my shoes, and that was without the heels! I have to buy the heels separately. Smiler

I had the same problem with a suitcase handle.
None of the shoe repair shops were willing to deal with it.
I found a shop on c/ del Prado, ( no'8 ??)
near plaza Santa Ana.
They repaired it on the spot.
The shop has a "Samsonite" sign.
"IBERIA" is using this place for repairing passengers suitcases.
Good luck

Thanks... Found "El Sanatario". They took one of the 2 bags - promised sameday service. I'll check out the other place someday soon for the remaining one.
