Hi Peg. I was in Spain February 2001 and purchased saffron (azafran puro) at a little grocery shop near Plaza Alonso Martinez, Madrid. You can buy it anywhere and probably everywhere groceries are sold. I paid 1450 pesetas ($8 american) for five grams. The brand we have is "Manchequita" from a town in the Cuenca region.
