Hey guys! I have a planned itinerary for when I visit Spain in April.
In Barcelona:
The Gothic Quarter
The Port Area
The Benedictine Monastery of Montserrat
Universal Studios Theme Park

In Madrid:
The Plaza Mayor
The Royal Palace
The Plaza de Espaa
The Gran Via
The Valley of The Fallen (El Escorial)
The Moncloa Observation Tower
El Pardo Palace

Segovia and Toledo.

If I can get time to shop for gifts/souveniers, what do you recommend I should buy and what shops should I go to? Roll Eyes

Thanks for all your help in advance!

You can do some good souvenir shopping in a store in Madrid cuyo nombre no puedo acordar on Paseo del Prado, 10. The shop is reasonably priced and the key chains are off da hook. Roll Eyes

Smiley,

Tourism is a major part of the Spanish economy, so you will see lots of souvenir shops. I'm sure you'll be given time to explore some of them. All the places you listed will have them. Smiler

I looked at your profile and see you like sports and music. Here are a few ideas:

1.
Jersey or banner (looks like a long scarf) of a Spanish soccer team. For example Real Madrid, Bilbao Atletico, Bara, etc....Lightweight and unbreakable. Available everywhere.

2.
Spanish music CDs, especially ones you don't see back home. Available everywhere also.

It's great that you are making plans so far in advance. Smiler Be sure to put this same enthusiasm into learning about all the great places you are going to visit! Big Grin

Go to the library and check out a book on Spanish art. Read about El Greco, Picasso, Velazquez, and Goya, and see their paintings. You will surely be seeing their works of art in-person. Read about Franco and the Spanish Civil War, because you will be going to the Valley of the Fallen, where he is buried. Read about the Romans' history in Spain, because you will be seeing their magnificent aquaduct in Segovia. Learn something about Spanish cuisine, so you know what foods you will be enjoying! Smiler

OK, this might not seem so exciting, but you will NEVER regret the effort you put into it! And, you will make quite an impression on the Spaniards, because few tourists are willing to make such an effort to learn about their country. Smiler

You are going to have a GREAT TIME! Big Grin Big Grin
