This may seem like a pretty stupid question but I haven't been able to come to a conclusion on my own. I am trying to decide on the best option. I will be in Spain for about 13 months. I will probably go home maybe once or twice during the time I am there. Now my dilemma. Should I purchase a tri-band phone so I can use it when I'm in Spain and in the U.S.? or should I just buy a dual band that works in Spain and another that works in the U.S and just leave it at home? I know I know, one phone can be used everywhere. But my fear is that if I break it I'm out of luck for Spain and the U.S. I'm just trying to get feedback on everyone's experiences.
P.S. I'm hoping you guys say buy two, this way I can fulfill my enormous gadget appetite. Besides the dual bands for europe are much cooler than the tri-bands. Oh wait, maybe that comment just ruined the purpose of my post.
Thanks.
Mikey

Hallo Mikey, have you seen the new nokia 6610? It's a tri-band phone and not only looks cool - it is very cool.
I would (and I did) buy two. If I was in Madrid this spring my nokia 8310 phone was stolen and the same happened to other friends and you can see it every day on the street. So I buy a cheap phone with a prepaid-card for Spain. And when it is stolen - the phone was not to expensive and you dont't have much problems with your phonecard. May be you you lose some euros.

Mike, you already know my take on this one but I shall repeat myself.
Buy the Sony-Ericsson T68i alread for crying out loud!!!
It is a supa-doopa-cool triband phone and don't worry, if it breaks while here you can take it to the "Eurotac" tech service (Plaza de Espaa 12) and they will fix it free of charge as long as it was not your fault it busted The phone will have a 1 year international warranty on it.
I could not imagine life without my P800 (sad huh? )
As many know, I am a MEGA gadget freak!!! I never spend any money on myself unless when it comes to techy stuff and gadgets, it is a sickness :lo:
Yes, the P800 is sweeeeeet and has been out here for a while now. A few American clients were very surprised to see I had one (I guess since I never spend money on myself, the holes in my clothes just screamed economically challanged ) although I have seen it on various webs that sell online in USA.
Saludos, jer...

Whoa whoa whoa... I think I brought out all the animal/gadget side of people. Maybe we SHOULD have that forum. Now that I think about it. I could have one GSM phone at home in the US and use it when I come home, but it could also be used by my family while I'm in Spain. I was searching the internet and the Siemens phones have caught my eye. There's a nice orange one, the M50 that's pretty nice. Maybe I'll get that one and a cheap GSM for U.S.
P.S. orange is one of my favorite color

I saw the SL55. It is a little too much $$. There is the M55 that has a little nice color scheme but does not have iR capability. It does have USB option to CPU for uploading of graphics and wavs however. I told you I like orange. There is even a newer spankin new model out there from siemens called the sxi55 or something. The number keys are on the sides and the navigation buttons are on the middle/bottom. Nice large screen, but we're talking Maj. Bucks here.
Have you seen the gameboy phone from Nokia?
