Hey,

what is the best shop in Madrid to buy a computer? Im looking for options for used ones and new components.

I dont need any tech support etc services, just components to "build" a computer or to buy a used one. So the cheapest place counts I think..

I know "Abyss Computers", in Cavanilles St. (metro Conde de Casal). They have a web page. Another place is "Conectrol", in Jorge Juan St. This is a quite expensive place, but you'd probably find everything you need there. Anyway, there are hundreds of them in Madrid.

I'm glad to know that somebody is going to build his own computer, like I did. It is a headache, but you know what it's inside.

Thanks.

And, it wouldnt hurt if theyd speak English... Smiler
Or maybe I should check the wordlist for computer-related stuff.

Hey guys, now your speaking my language.

Althought I have never actually put a PC together from scratch, I have been know to take them apart and not know how to get them back together Eeker

wiboi, there are 2 types of computer stores here:

1) Those that will sell only complete PCs.
2) Those that will sell both complete PCs and parts.

I can tell you that for your needs, you should check out www.cirrusgh.com . The store is on Ronda de Segovia #9 in Madrid and sells components pretty cheap.

You can get a bus from the Plaza Puertacerrada just off the Plaza Mayor or walk there in 20 minutes from the city center.

Saludos,
jer...

I don't know their telephone number or web site address(Do you Jer?), but I bought a used, nearly new laptop for a steal of a price from a second hand chain shop in Madrid called Bit & Web a few months back. Good service, good warranty, great prices! I've seen some vanilla PCs for as low as 20,000 pts. You can get something that is more than effective for most peoples' needs for under 50,000 pts.

As far as the speaking English thing, I don't know if they do or not. They don't tend to advertise that.

I don't know about Jer, but I could most certainly be hired for translation and negotiation services (aka- regateo Big Grin ) for a cheap price. My rates start at 1-2 beers (caas are acceptable) which I see as being more than fair. Tapas may be required for a difficult negotiation process... Wink

Just kidding. The people I dealt with gave me the impression of being guiri (foreigner)friendly.
