Yeah, Deniz, Jer is right.
It might be a good idea for you to buy a pay-as-you-go telephone (I think) since they arent expensive here. A contract line might be a little bit more difficult to get if you just arrive in Spain and plan to get one, since I have heard that mobile phone operators normally ask for a guarantee that you are not leaving the country without paying your bills. Ive heard that they might even ask you for advance payments (they ask you to pay what u have spent till that moment before the end of the month) or "fianzas" which mightg o up as much as 300!!

Furthermore, at the beginning they might restrict your international calling or roaming service until they make sure you are a good "payer" (i.e: that you pay monthly your bills, no matter how much you spend). As they say in Catalunya: "la pela es la pela" and they do not want to take risks, I suppose.
For prices and services, I advise u to have a look at the 3 operators you can choose in Spain:
[URL=http://www.vodafone.es] for Vodafone
[URL=http://www.movistar.com] for Movistar
[URL=http://www.amena.com] for Amena
If you have a triband phone in Canada, you might use it here in roaming service, but it will be too expensive for you, as you must already know.
I know that Microcell connexion and Rogers wireless telephones from Canada can work with Vodafones network in Spain (or they should).
Get ready, September is right round the corner

. Sure Youll feel at home here.
Un abrazo.
