p.d. i have never heard of that software not being able to use abroad issue, sounds like someone was pulling your leg.
laptops are made for travel, software that only worked in u.s.a. would be a waste of time and make no sense at all.
imagine a businessman who travels the world about with his laptop. that would be hilarious if he could not use it on business trips.
then again, knowing microsoft & some other software giants, ridiculous is a daily routine.
