If I may pick your brains again ... any idea where I might buy an Ethernet (network) cable in central Madrid

Fnac and El Corte Ingles don't seem to be much good - they have crossover cables but not ordinary ones.

Thanks

James

Hey JamesH, good question.

THE place for ANYTHING and EVERYTHING in cables is "Conectrol".

These guys are serious about their cables Big Grin

I dare to say that if you can't find it there, it does not exist! They will also make any cabel custom to suite your needs.

Conectrol is also a lot cheaper than the Corte Ingls, fnac, etc...

The 2 shops are on Calle Jorge Juan #57 and 58 (across the street from each other).

The one (store) you want is at #57, click HERE FOR THE QDQ PHOTO Cool

Phone # is 91 578 1034
Closest Metro stop is Goya (red #2 line), get off and backtrack walking a bit down Calle Alcal and Calle Jorge Juan crosses Calle Alcal. Make a right on Jorge Juan and Conectrol is right there.

website at www.conectrol.com

One thing, the guys who work there are often "bordes" (bad-tempered) with the clients Eeker They do not have much patience with clients unless they know EXACTLY what they are looking for and how to express it. If you can put up with their attitudes, it is a great place to get whatever you need for computers, telephones, etc...

Saludos,
jer...

Thanks - went there this afternoon and bought a 10 metre cable, though I really needed about 15 metres.

I managed to pick up a longer cable at a secondhand computer shop just across the road.

Hey JamesH, yeah, I know that used computer shop (run by some pretty shady characters Eeker ) right next door to one of the Conectrol shops but would never buy anything there that has moving parts. A cable is a safe purchase though Big Grin

Yeah, when I wanted to run one of my PCs into the kitchen (don't ask!) at the other end of my apartment, I bought 3 10 meter RJ45 network cables and a few connectors and simply daisy chained them, worked like a charm! Cool
