Hi, does anyone know where I can get a good virtual copy of that famous, old Madrid map drawn by Texeira? I think it dates to 1656 and it's one of the oldest maps of Madrid. We need to use it for a Power Point presentation and I'm trying to find a copy of it on the web but I'm not being very successful. If you can suggest a place where I could buy a slide of it that would be good too. Thanks. Lena
I did a search for that map on their site and came up empty but you may want to call or visit them and see if they have it, if they don't and can't tell you where to get one, I would be surprised.
Didn't work for me either at first! Jer, try this, take the 'planotex2.jpg off the end, go to the site , click on 'mapa web' and then look for the 'mapa de Pedro de Texeira' link and click that!
Long way round but it gets you there! And once you've been, the above link works!!
Thank you so much Sensis and Laidback. I was also getting the error message and was sort of surfing through that web site trying to find the map when you (Laidback) posted your message no how to get there. Got it. Beautiful map! Thank you both! By the way, Sensis, that's an absolutely fascinating site, I love the San Isidro story and this web page has a lot more info and pictures than I had ever seen or read before. Gracias!!! Lena
I also think the webpage is great. It has cool drawings of old Madrid, the old Alczar (former Royal Palace which got burnt before the one we know today was built), the city walls, etc, etc.
I dont know why the link gave an error to some of you. It worked perfectly (and still does) in my computer and the one I use at my working place. It is a web mystery
Un abrazo

Before I left Madrid I made sure I got myself a poster of that very map. I adore it. It's not hanging anywhere now but one day I'll prominently display it. I got mine at the museum shop of the Museo Municipal in Tribunal.

I've heard that museum is closed right now due to "obras". I will eventually look for a hard copy of that map either there or at the Museo de la Ciudad at Cruz del Rayo, so I can put it up somewhere, it is indeed quite beautiful. Lena
