Bring back anything unusual from Spain?
Last year, I brought back two rather unique items:
1.
A door knocker that looks like a lady's hand (you see them all over Spain).
I saw a used one at the Rastro, but the vendor wanted to add the "Gringo Surcharge"

to the price, so I passed. I found one in Sevilla, and it is now mounted on my front door.
2.
A 220 volt espresso machine, made for domestic use.
Back home, I had replaced my electric cooktop with a gas one, and thus had an unused 220 volt circuit. So, considering that I saw a ton of domestic 220 volt models and only a few 110 volt models for export, I was able to find a nice one (stainless steel cylinder, chrome plated brass cup) for considerably less than I could back home.
After calling my retired electrical engineer father, we determined we could use the 220 volt, 50 cycle machine on my house's 220 volt 60 cycle circuit. (Electricity is dangerous, so don't try anything like this unless you REALLY know what you are doing!

)
When our European friends visit, they not only get great coffee, they all want to plug their appliances into the standard European 2 hole outlet!
