Hi Folks, Does anybody know of a decent Dance Music shop in Madrid? House, hard house, Progressive, tribal etc... The only place I know is Madrid Rock (which in my option) does not....
Cheers.

Hey Rob, jejejeje... "Madrid" Rocks but "Madrid Rocks" is a pretty mainstream store as is the fnac, Corte Ingls, etc... so it is no wonder you can't find what you want there. Those music shops are good for about 90% of the people out there but at times a specialty store is needed.
Have you tried "P L 8" Recor Shop. It boasts itself as the dance musice, hip-hop, etc...
I am one of those that fall into the 90% that can get what they need at the main stores so I hope this tip helps. If they don't have what you want, maybe they can order it or recommend a place that will.
Tell them jeremy from multimadrid.com sent ya, good for my website
Malasaa is full of those places Just walk around C/ San Vicente Ferrer, Espiritu Santo, San Andres, La Palma.. I think best places for that music are on the streets/area between Plaza de Dos de Mayo & C/ Fuencarral.
For dub, reggae, roots reggae and that kind of music Ill recommend Maoc Records on C/ Espiritu Santo. They have also some minimal techno and electro-music.
I just arrived to Spain a week ago and will be here for the next three months and Ive been on the lookout for record shops as well.
On the web, I found a site with pretty cool listings at www.clubbingspain.com I havent gotten familiar enough with the city though to find anything. If anyone out there knows more places to go and hear house music or places to buy house music related records please pass on the info.

Maybe you want to check all those cheapo CD shops around Puerta del Sol. There are some of them:
- Yunque (C/ Hileras next to C/ Arenal) - Yunque (C/ Donados next to C/ Arenal) - La Metralleta (In the parking entrance at the Plaza de las Descalzas Reales) - La Metralleta (C/ Espoz y Mina near Plaza del Angel)
New CDs are 9 Euros each. Old CDs are 6 Euros. Youll have to use some time searching what youre looking for but youll find something for sure.
Regards

Hey cyclops, you just brought back a memory of my first weeks in Madrid years ago. I was in La Metralleta in the parking entrance at the Plaza de las Descalzas Reales and I spent like 3 hours looking through their toitally unorganized inventory to find but 1 CD I liked. The CDs are also covered in 1-2 inches of dust making the titles impossible to read but granted it is a good place to waste time away
They could just turn the CDs in the racks onto their sides and we would be able to read the titles without having to take each CD out to see it but I guess they know that they have a great marketing tool in their unorganized ways, keep you there forever to find what you like.
Hey jowilla, I see that you arrived in Spain around the 18th of Sept. Too bad you missed the BARBQ on the 21st, surely you would have felt more at home and less homesick with us for the day.
