Okay, so it has turned winter-ish (albeit beautiful today) and I need to do some serious shoe shopping. I've checked out the post for us larger footed folk, and wanted to see if I can ask for some advice on where to find some stylish shoes/boots (that great pointy style) but decent quality (but not toooooo pricey).
I found Cremades in Puerta del Sol and Arguelles (c/Andres Mellado, 7). They have a great selection for lower prices (around 50 euros or under) but you need to pay cashola (to keep their prices down, they say), and I'm not sure about the quality.
There is also a great place on c/Goya about 3 blocks up from Plaza Colon on the left (can't remember the name) but phenomenol shoes in the 65-80 range that seem like decent quality. I just want them to last so when people back home ask me where I got my great shoes, I can say "Spain!"
So...after living here 8 months, I still feel on the outs with shoes since I haven't done too much shopping in the shoe dept since I arrived. Now is the time! Can anyone suggest their favorite finds? And any more suggestions for the, eh hem, larger footed folk, are appreciated too. Gracias!

Just did a SEARCH on "shoe shopping" and came up with quite a few threads.
Included in one was this post by "Madrilea"...
quote:
In Augusto Figueroa street (between Hortaleza and Barquillo) there are several nice and good priced shoe shops. They are all concentrated in a couple of blocks, so you can compare them before buying. Also in Fuencarral street and Preciados there are a lot of them, but I liked more the ones of Augusto Figueroa.
I put this thread up awhile back and it got a few responses.
I have not yet been to any of these stores. And in fact, just got back from the States where I bought two pairs of shoes for under $80. Yes, to be able to say that "I bought them in Spain" would be a nice curiosity...but you just cant beat the $80 deal for leather shoes (Anne Klein and Liz Claiborne)! Spanish or not! Ok, so they may not have the ultra pointy toe,...but quite frankly, my feet dont need anymore help looking bigger than what they are!!
Good luck on your search and be sure to post back as I would love to find a good store with such excellent price/quality ratio for those of us blessed with a "greater understanding"! :jeje:
I have a size 43-44 foot and in Madrid I know of the following special-size shoe stores:
Cordones C/Santiago Near the Plaza Mayor
Tall Galls C/ Marqus de Urquijo
 J. L. Daz C/ Marqus de Urquijo
Record's Plaza de Santo domingo, behind Gran Va.
Anyone care to follow up these leads and let the gals know?
If you do a SEARCH ON THE VOGUE FORUM in Spanish for "tallas grandes", you will get a lot of results and as long as you read Spanish, you just have to weed through them.
I like the FOSCO chain (it's quite "Zaraish"), there are a couple of them in Barrio Salamanca, on cl Goya and on cl Hermosilla; and the rest of the shops are mainly located in shoping malls: La Vaguada, etc....

Hi Kirita, I am a 41 and love shoes so I know a thing or two about the subject.
C/ Augusto Figuorea that someone mentions above is in Chueca. There are tons of muestarios (go ahead jer, correct away on the spelling!) Anyway the styles are very unique and often one of a kind and they do tend to have larger sizes, but they are not cheap by any stretch of the imagination.
Another muestario (jer??) that I have had lots of luck with is on C/ Montera (yes the puta street), just a half block or so up from Sol on the right. Don't remember the name but it is long and narrow and in the very back are racks assorted by size. There are always lots of 41s.
Finally, I have had my best bet getting my shoe size at Zara and Blanca. They both always seem to have 41s in stock and the prices aren't so bad. Of course the style is through the roof trendy. I am currently eyeing a pair of fire engine red, motorcycle-styled, pointy-toed, stilletto-heeled, rubber soled boots that are only 49 euros. Oh my god, gotta go, must go buy them now, hast...
