I'm excited about the arándanos secos.... The rest of the stuff just looks like anti-american propaganda to me. Really, there is good food in the US and it's not hot dogs in jars with special hamburger sauce!

Speaking of food, why is fruit so bad here. Happened again today. Bought melon (over 5 euros) from Carrefour and it was bad. Had to throw it away. The only decent tomatoes are the ones grown outside of Spain (usually Holland). About the only consistant products I get are stuff from Plus, or lettuce and things like that. But as a general rule of thumb the produce is crap here. Really frustrating because I'm trying to eat better and it's hard to do here.

fruit is GREAT here. you just need to know where to shop and how to pick a good melon.
will chalk this one up to your living out in tres cantos i suppose. do you have any real markets out there of just carrefour, plus and other supermarkets?
try going to a real fruit market or fruit stand and paying a bit more mate
saludos, jer...
p.d. 5 euros for a mellon!!! must have been HUGE!!!
Good point, Graffy. I find the fresh produce here much better than in the USA. The peaches are like candy and I love eating them and the cherries, please don't get me started.

i could help you!!! my father in law has a grove of fig, apple, pear, plum, cherry, pomegranite, and persimmon trees. everytime i see him, he inundates me with fresh fruit...i am talking 6, 7 kilos of stuff! i've learned to make fruit sorbets and sauces and cook with fruit, but most of it sadly goes into the garbage as my husband and i just can't eat it all!
so, i'll officially start the free fruit, good fruit mm initiative! i'll post back when i get the next batch! probably this weekend!

Me! Me! Me! Besides, what a great excuse to see you! Let me know where and when is a good time to meet today or tomorrow. I'll only take several cuz I live alone and all that, but it'll be great to enjoy some yummy, fresh, home grown fruit. Lena
I'll take some if there are still any left. I love persimmons and I remember how good the Candeleda ones were last year. Maybe I can meet at the same time as Lena...
