Hi all,
I am leaving for a week in Madrid in a couple days and both of my daughters(aged 13 and 16) have requested 'typical' or 'traditional' silver spanish necklaces. They are both interested in Spain and are taking spanish at school and both are fashion conscious (can't look like a dork!).

Does anybody have a suggestion of places to look in Madrid?

Thanks!
p.d.
I apologize for cross-posting this on two message boards. I am very short on time and could not decide which community had the highest probability of success.
p.p.d.
I will be checking this board from Madrid, so it is ok to respond next week - the week of Jan. 22.

Hey buddy, I am psyched for my map (I guess it will be ok meeting you too Big Grin ).

Silver necklaces huh? Cool ones that their friends will not make fun of!

Being a father you must realize that no matter what style necklaces you buy for them they will be weeny for the plain fact that dad bought them, isn't that what teenagers are like?

If I were you I would scope out the RASTRO on a Sunday morning (the only day it is possible). There are loads of jewelry stands thathave quite original designs and there are some junky stands as well.

There is also really nice silver store on Calle Prncipe just off the Puerta del Sol between Sol and Plaza Santa Ana. Not sure of the name but it has real nice silver designs but will be more expensive than the Rastro of course. If you are in Sol, walk down C/ Carrera de San Jernimo (far southeast corner of the square) and when you get to the Plaza de Canalejas make your second right (not the first onto C/ Cruz) and that is Calle Prncipe. The shop is on your left about half way down before you hit the Plaza de Santa Ana.

Saludos,
jer...

p.d. Oh, that OTHER mesage board (will remain nameless) has more members (has been around more than a year longer than mine) but quantity is not always quality Big Grin . I live her eand like to give first hand advice on my board.

Im not sure about the silver stores but you are definately right about that web site. Quantity does not mean quality. Keep up the good work Jer.

Sooooo right on LA!+

Hey jaimemiguel, well, I scoped it out and here are the 2 places on Calle Prncipe for silver:

1) "fusin": This place is AMAZING, such beautiful silverwork and designs. YOU CAN'T go wrong here! The owner/designer was realy cool and we spoke for a while. Browsing in there even made me want ot be a woman Confused

Photos-

b) INSIDE SHOT.

c) SOME OF THEIR "ARTWORK".

d) MORE GREAT JEWELRY.

There is another "fusin" on C/ Jorge Juan near Metro Goya as well.

2) "Madrid del Plata": More of an imported jewelry place than a "Made in Spain" one like "fusin", this place also had nice stuff.
