Booksellers actually has two locations. They simply closed their shop on José Abascal and moved it to Fernandez de la Hoz as Juliette mentioned.
They then moved the materials that they sold previously at Fernandez de la Hoz to their new location in Plaza de Olavide as Shawn mentioned.
In short, at the Fernandez de la Hoz location they sell and English teacher's dream.. all the ELT material you can imagine.
At the Plaza de Olavide location they sell outdated editions of course books (if they have them) as well as bilingual material and material in Spanish.
I have heard that J&J's is a great place to get used teaching material.
I noticed that nobody here has mentioned the fantastic English bookshop in Goya (Bookworld España). They have a great selection of books (all new, all in english) and the prices are reasonable. If they don´t have something, they can usually order without any extra charge!! You should really check it out

i know bookworld españa but as far as i know, they do not deal in used books. is that right?
i mention this since the international bookshop is mostly a second hand shop (buy and sell back, etc...), a different concept that the bokshops that sell new books.
they are a good and big chain however with 10 shops in madrid and andalucía (mostly in the málaga area).
No, I don´t think they have second hand books there... at least haven´t noticed.
I know I´m a bit off topic with this one, but thought I´d ask anyway in case somebody could help me; how do I get a library card here? Should I just march to a local library and fill out a form , or how does it go? Do the librarys have also books in english? I try to read in spanish, but it´s still a bit slow, so i´d like to read in english every now and then too :-)
Thanks for the help!

Our library (centro) has a very small selection of books in English and other languages. We showed our residency card to get the library card. You might also be able to use a passport and some kind of proof of where you live (not sure about that).
