hey gang, i need some help from you ps peeps out there.
not much to do with spain but "it's my website & i'll ask if i waaant to, ask if i waaant to, ask if i waaaaant to..." :jeje:
ok, here's the situation, my parents went away on a weeks vacation... :jeje:
seriously, i have accumulated a ton of points with my sony credit card and it is time to cash them in for sony fun stuff.
i have decided to go for the playstation II (yeah, i know mom, video games rot yer brain ) and, with the current points i have, i can get the console, 2 dual shock controllers and a 2 games for free
problem is, i do not know which are good games. the ones i can choose from...
GHOSTHUNTER DOGS LIFE TIME CRISIS 3 JAK II (PLATINUM) DESTRUCTION DERBY ARENA RACKET & CLANK 2 PRIMAL APE ESCAPE 2 MARK OF KRI MOTO GP3 GT CONCEPT(platinum) FINAL FANTASY X (platinum) ESTO ES FUTBOL 2003 F1 2002 TEKKEN 4 AIR BLADE JACK AND DAXTER (Platinum) TIME CRISIS 2 WORLD RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP (Platinum) ESTO ES FTBOL (Platinum) ATV OFF ROAD GT3 (Platinum) F12001 (Platinum) SKY ODISSEY MOTOGP (Platinum)
The PS2 may rot your brain, but I can tell you from personal experience that it is a GREAT stress reliever. I have mostly military or killing games (socom, socom2, the getaway) and sports games (NHL 2004, ESPN Football, basketball, FIFA2004 etc.) It is soooooooo nice after a tough day when you maybe have a job where a client or someone you know has been a real A**hole to go home and "pegar dos tiros" to someone via the PS2. But, to the task at hand, if you decide to get the games, I would go for MotoGP3, F1 2002, Ghosthunter, or ATV offroad.
One option that I am seriously thinking about (because I know someone who does it) is putting "the chip" (usually costs about 80 euros)in the PS2 then downloading the games via E-mule which I dont know if I have an ethical dilema with since its illegal and dishonest, but I see 60 euros a bit ridiculous for a game (perhaps its because we can download games).
I WILL NEVER BUY A GAME, A ROSE, A TIE, OR A CD FROM A TOPMANTA because according to the newspaper, the "hijos de puta" that purportrated the Madrid bombings worked as topmantas and selling Morroccan hash. Just something to think about.

Shiloh, THANKS A TON for your advice, all well taken and helpful

yes, but gladly i am past the ethical dilemma regarding these things so if i can figure out how to do what you say, it is e-mule all the way for me

nah, it is their (the game manufacturers) fault. this is not a chick and egg conundrum in my opinion (eg. are the games expensive due to piracy or is the piracy cuased by the high price of games) since the games have always been outrageously expensive, even before they were being pirated.
My favorites of the ones listed there are WRC, and GT3. I am not a huge game console fan anymore though, the last game I played till my thumbs went numb was Super Mario Brothers, for the Nintendo 16...
I hate quotations. Tell me what you know.

I don't buy from topmanta, because I am excercising my rights as a consumer, and I hate my neighborhood being all crowded with people oggleing over CDs and blocking my way. I think they are doing pretty well without my business though
Not to completely thread-jack this, I haven't played it, but that FIFA2004 game also looks pretty damn good

I find PS incredibly boring (mainly cos Lara Croft kept drowning everytime I played), but Ged adores any footie game . . .
What's wrong with Pacman these days
Oh, the memory card is to store stages on when you're playing so you don't have to keep replaying them (and that's as clear as mud, I know. Basically, if you're onto level 2, you download the info onto the card so next time you don't have to bother with level 1 again).
Enjoy playing, and prepare for those PS blisters
:ks: :ks: :ks:
Glory, glory to the hibees . . .

i knew the memory card was for saving games and such but thanks for telling me the chip is something else.
guess i will have to get the psII "tweaked" with the chip.
Elizabeth, your comment about lara croft was sooooo funy (too me at least) and it really hit home. you see, the only time i have ever played a ps was when i was babck in dc visitng a friend years ago. it was a psI and ena and i were fiddling around with tomb raider while we waited for me friend to come home from work. we were CLUELESS and she kept drowning, when we managed not to drown her, we could not get her out of this cave type area :jeje:
I dont know the name of the chip, but apart from the fact that you can download games, you can also change regions of DVDs. If someone from the states sends you a DVD, you dont have to buy a region changer (which by the way I can recommend).
I have FIFA 2004 and can highly recommend it, although I think FIFA 2005 has already come out but I havent played it yet.

thanks but i won't be using the play as a dvd player for flicks as i already have a dvd player so no need for that.

you bought a what? no need for a region changer either. i bought my dvd player about 2 yrs ago dirt cheap (knock-off brand) and just cracked it with the advice i got at www.videohelp.com their dvd hacks section at www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks.php rocks :m:
looking back, i should have found the hack and then bought the dvd player to be sure i would be able to hack it. i did it the other way around and risked not finding a hack for my model player, got lucky though.
took me about 10 minutes to crack (remove region restriction) from my dvd player
ok, back to the playstation topic. after the advice given and a bit of research, i think i am gonna go with "ghosthunter" and "final fantasy x" as i am more into those types of games than the sporting ones.
like you say Shiloh, shoot em up after a long day of work
if anyone else has anything to add, please keep the advice rolling in.
