does anyone know where you can buy a Back Support Belt? I put my back out on the weekend, and the support belt I have is losing it's strengh.

I found this one Neoprene double pull lumbar brace

from the UK but Bupa doesn't ship outside of the UK. I have family that can forward it to me if worse comes to worse but I'd prefer to buy it local.

thanks Rob in Madrid

I think you'll find that there are many Farmacias around who carry a small supply of those, I know from personal experience with my own Spinal problems that they can be found, as when I was in Barcelona about 6 years ago I had one break on me, could not fix it, and just went to the nearest Farmacia on La Rambla, and they had one for €25.00 euros by the name of "STiL" with slots in it for additional support rods if required, and it was & still is an awesome back support.

As for in Madrid, well I have seen them in una Farmacia, at the top end of C/ Magdalena, it still is or was when I last walked by there a 24 hour Farmacia, you might go & see if they have still got any, and the other one I have purchased those things from is (can't remember the name exactly) top end of C/Carretas on the left hand side going up, una Farmacia, and they have got loads of support equipment, and foot care products, neck braces, orthopedic stuff etc.

I feel sure that many of those Farmacias have got a supply of back supports, as they know very well that there are many people each year who suddenly put their backs out by one means or another.

Aslo, I think you will find that many (if not most of the BIG Chinese shops "Chollos" will have a good supply of sports Injury type items, knee supports, ankle, elbow, back, etc, they are cheaper, and don't last as long, but if urgently needed, is definitely better than nothing.

I in fact use (most of the time) a professional weight lifters belt) as it is really strong and supportive, it's a "Reebok" from a sports shop in the UK, and I've been wearing it all throughout the year since I got it, it does up very, very tight indeed, if you need it to be, but obviously I just keep it just comfortable enough to keep by back together. Perhaps there are some sports shops in Madrid who might carry that type of sports equipment. It's not the Neoprene stretchy type of belt, it's a rigid fixed type, but with Velcro fastening adjustment of the required tightness. So it figures that you might checkout a few "sports shops" mañana!!

Hope that helps, good luck.

Angelo.

Have you asked at any Ortopedias? There are a lot of those in my zone as I live close to the hospital. You should be able to find some in your area through http://www.paginasamarillas.es/

hi Rob.

any orthopedic specialty store should have a few models for you to look at.

see the thread at http://spaintalk.multimadrid.org/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/166...1084412?r=2621068412

there is also a huge orthopedia store on gran vía de san francisco around number 3 or 5 (just around the corner from puerta de toedo), see the map at http://callejero.lanetro.com/apps/lanetrov4/mapas.asp?p...2Dmadrid&prov=Madrid

HOWEVER, if it is that particular model you are set on having, they may not carry it here in spain so you may be better off ordering it online.

also, the price of £19.80 (about 30 euros) is probably a lot cheaper than one will cost you here as these things tend to cost more in spain.

saludos,
jer...

Your right, I stuff like that all the time on the wall, don't know why I didn't think of it. Decathalon has a large weight lifting section, so I'll take a look there.

I will say one thing the pain was so bad it's got me into doing my streches and ads every day. I never want to go throught that one again. Before I used to only strech when my back hurt.

again thanks Rob (in Madrid)

Cheers, Rob, glad to hear that you got a good one, I'm sure you must be feeling much more comfortable with & in control of your back pain by now, any chance of a picture of the item posted on here?

Salud y suerte.
