As some of you may already know, fellow board member, PIM, and I organize a monthly womens dining group.
For a couple of months the lovely ladies have been asking to have men come to one of our dinners as a once-in-a-while opportunity. We have decided that the August dinner would be a fine opportunity to open it up to the men... of any race, color, creed or marital status. The only requirement is that they enjoy the company of ladies and enjoy a good meal out.
I am quoting below part of the email that has been sent out. The dinner is for next Friday, August 6th. I am accepting reservations up until this Thursday evening (July 29th.). You can post your response here, but I ask that you also send an email to the address indicated below confirming your attendance. I might miss you on this post, but I wont miss an email that you send to the address.
Oh, and for the record, last months dinner boasted a total of 19 women... just in case you were curious.

Good Morning Ladies!
Just an update about the August dinner plans. Paloma so kindly corrected my absentmindedness with the correct location of Augusts dinner. Please note the changes in the details below:
Mark your calendar for Friday August 6th at 9:30pm Place: La Taqueria de Birra Plaza de Comendadoras metro: San Bernardo Reservations: Under Rebecca. We will be sitting in the terrace area.
I have to make the reservations no later than this Friday, so will need a final confirmation from you all by Thursday evening.
So, open up your address books and forward this to all the gentlemen that you know who you think would like to have dinner with us. Please have them respond to madridchicas@yahoo.es or respond for them so we can get a final head count. As usual, I am expecting a flurry of last minute emails on Thursday. Many thanks to those who have already responsded and let me know of your intentions.
So come on men... join us! Your Spanish nor your English has to be perfect, I am sure you will find someone to chat with regardless of the language!
Okay Chica. I will break the ice and be the first to step up to the plate / plato del dia. Sign me up and send me the details of what you need to do besides just show up at the place near San Bernardo metro on August 6th.

hey David, not (too) afraid but i am picturing the ladies at the past dinners, banging forks and knives on the table while yelling "hombres! men! hombres! men!" :jeje:
as they say in spanish, hay mucha hambre! :jeje:
also, you wrote...

If all goes well could you please set a date for the following friday? I wont be in Madrid until the 10th.
... but you should know that Chicas madrid ladies dinner is once a month so they will surely not have one less than a week after the one on the 6th.
i also think that this men invited dinner is only once in a while, not every month (could be wrong).
you will remember i told you on the other thread to take some initiative and propose a get-together for when you are here. Salva proposed the one for this thursday and it will be fun. if you want to meet up with others, you will need to take some initiative.
Hey wow! Glad this seemed to have stirred up some interest... or at least curiosity.
Actually, despite the participation of some of the wilder ( :jeje: hi holaaaa! Hi Lena! Hi Candela! ) female multimadrid board members, our dinners are down right respectable. We leave the table banging to groups of uncivilized men.
Now, knowing that you are all civilized, we wont have to worry about any raucous behavior (or will we? Maybe some of the ladies will enjoy that!!).
You should know in advance the following:
1. We go dutch on these dinners (no offense SergeHolandes). The bill is split equally amongst all in attendance regardless if you have ordered the most expensive or the cheapest dish... so... dont bother cutting corners. We draw the line at beverages. Beer and wine are split equally however if you order liquor, you pay that on your own.
2. We request that you arrive on time. If not, you cannot be gauranteed a seat if its a particularly busy night and the restaurant takes it away.
3. No conversation is censored. No topic is taboo. :jeje:
4. There are no language requirements, although the lingua franca is largely English.
5. We try to select restaurants that have a decent price/quality ratio. The average cost has been about 15 per person.
6. We request that all confirmations be sent via email to madridchicas@yahoo.es .
If these "Women's Dining Group" outings are per the title, aimed exclusively at women.....wouldn't that make the men whose presence is occasionally tolerated, errr...invited, "guests"??
Don't know about you, but when I invite a "guest" I pay for their meal!
There is an answer to this: call the women's only outings "Women's Dining Group", while the coed outings "Dining Group"....in the second, there would be no guests because everyone would just be participants! :ks:
