After a very lazy Sunday afternoon, I am finally logging on to post a short report about the second mixed dinner. In spite of the last minute cancellations, there ended up being a total of 38 people dining with the Madrid Chicas group! Many many thanks to Jill, a.k.a. Bangkok, and her waitstaff for a relatively problematic free evening! She printed up a special menu just for our group... "todo un detalle" and in the end charged just 18� total per person which included the desserts, soft drinks and numerous beers. I'd be interested in hearing feedback from others, but I personally think the evening was a success. The food was terrific (at least what I ordered) and the waiters were extremely patient with the group. Even when there were late arrivals and we had to squeeze in extra chairs. Thanks to all who came out and hopefully had a good time... Mark your calendars as the next mixed dinner will probably be in early 2005. In the meantime the monthly women's dinners will carry on as usual. I hope that holaaaa will pop in with a post-dinner report as she looked like quite the pied-piper leading a group of 30-some people through Chueca to the next watering hole as �ngel and I flagged down the first cab we saw. :cheers:

Morning! The dinner was excellent. That goes for the food (green chicken curry mmm) and the people there as well. Paul, I and a few others went round to gran via for a beers later on. Thanks for a good time! Mike

Here! Here! The mixed dinner is back again! Hopefully some of you board lurking gentlemen and other active members would like to join us! Unfortunately I did not read Juliette's post about the "wings and things" dinner until after the initial invitation to April's dinner went out. That bums me out as I love wings but economically cannot splurge on two dinners the same week. For those who can, or for those who were not planning on attending Juliette's dinner, here are the details for the April women's dinner to which, once again, we are inviting men... quote: Back by popular demand the monthly women's dining club is making room at the table in April for men to join in the fun! The details: Food: Arabian food with an Egyptian touch. Price: 21� per person includes a selection of dishes from the menu, wine or 2 soft drinks/beer, dessert, champagne and tax. Gratuity is separate. **Lastest date to RSVP is April 2 at 12 noon. No reservations will be accepted after that date, no exceptions.** Since we have to pay a 50% deposit before the dinner we ask that you do not confirm until you are absolutely certain that you will be attending and likewise for any guests that you may be bringing. Cancellations are permitted only until 2 days before the dinner. We have to pay in full for any cancellations later than that. Please be considerate. hey Chica, i think my leg may be affecting my head here but i do not see anywhere in your post the actual date for the dinner itself. all we know is that it is the week of the 3-9 but can't find the exact night  all you wrote was... Not to sound like a broken record or anything...  The monthly women's dinners are back! And once again, you guessed it, this month the dinner is open to men. Perhaps those of you who are already on the periodic invitation list received the evite. However, for those who didn't, here's the scoop: quote:

Ladies and Gentlemen, it's that time of year again... the monthly dinners are back! This month we are inviting our gentlemen friends to join us for a lovely night of good food good conversation and great company!
The dinner will take place in one of the newest Basque restaurants in Madrid...Txueca! The owners are preparing a special menu for us which will cost 18-20€ per person (VAT included). We will start off with some traditional pintxos and then move on to some dishes to share around and finish with coffee and dessert. The choice of food will be ample for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. The menu will also include soft drinks and three types of wine: red, white or rosé. (beer is NOT included).
Please confirm your attendance no later than Friday the 23rd so we can make the appropriate reservations. The reservations will be held under "Rebecca". Please indicate if you are vegetarian.
We have some new members joining us this month! So, let's give them a hearty welcome!

Señores y Señoras pues ya es hora otra vez para nuestras cenas mensuales. ¡Este mes, abrimos la mesa para que nuestros amigos, los caballeros que son, puedan disfrutar una noche de buena comida, buena compañía y buena conversación con todas nosotras!
La cena tomará lugar en uno de los restaurantes Vascos recién llegados a Madrid... ¡Txueca! Los dueños nos están preparando un menú especial que saldrá a 18-20€ por persona (IVA incluida). Empezarémos la cena con pintxos tradicionales seguidos por unas raciones para compartir y terminando con un café y postre especial. Habrá una selección amplia tanto para los vegetarianos como para los amantes de carne. También incluidos son los refrescos y tres variedades de vino: tinto, blanco y rosado. (Cerveza NO está incluida)
Por favor confirma tu asistencia antes del 23 de septiembre para que hagamos las reservas adecuadas. Las reservas estarán a nombre de "Rebecca". Indica si eres vegetariano.
