I was thinking of mailing some "Turron & Mazapan" to some friends in the US...

Does anyone know if there will be any trouble with the package at the US Customs? Or is it ok as long as it is in a sealed package??

Thanks! Smiler Smiler

Same for me: no problems with US customs,... but we never sent more than a couple of kilos.

(I am not sure, but I think that you may have problems with the courier company or with "Correos" if you declare that you're sending food - but the "turrn" is safe: no odour, no fragile packing, no liquids; so, there is no need to declare it if it involves any problem.)

We just received several boxes of Turron from our friend in Jerez, no problem with customs.

I order slews of stuff from Tienda.com . . a U.S. E-commerce company, including jamon serrano. They usually have turron as well, especially for the holidays.

Saludos

Hopefully you are accessing the tienda.com site from multimadrid.com (there are links from many places). That way Jer gets a commission for it (which helps him pay his multimadrid gastos), but you don't pay one penny more for your stuff. A win-win situation if I ever saw one! Big Grin

Hey TJGuy, yes, as Paul said, many Spain related sites like mine are TIENDA.COM affiliates.

I never participated in affiliate programs but they are one that I gave a shot and I make a decent amt. of $$$ off them (and since I get 10% of the order total, that must mean they are swimmin in $$$).

You will see TIENDA.COM links, banners and button ads on my site, for example the banner at page top on my
MY FOOD FORUM

Only problem is that since TJGuy already ordered from TIENDA, they have him "cookied" as a normal entry to their site. For me to get the commission now he has to...

1) Go to his internet browser.
2) Select "tools" --> "Internet Options".
3) Click the "Delete Cookies" option in the first "General" settings.
4) Come back to my site and click a Tienda link or banner which will take him to http://fineproductsfromspain.com/cgi-bin/affiliates/clickthru.cgi?id=jer and redirect him to the TIENDA home page.

Only that way will he get a new "cookie" on his machine telling TIENDA.COM that he has come from my site.

Also, anyone who clicks throught to TIENDA.COM from multimadrid has to do the above 1)-4) every 6 months since the TIENDA cookie expires after that time.

Paul, thanks for the heads-up and for looking out for multimadrid Cool

Smiler Thanks for your replies... It seems to be pretty safe to mail turron, so I will, but without mentioning anything about "food inside"

Thanks again Wink !
