So, we better start thinking of a new place for the next gathering if we're going to have tapas with our 'cervecitas'....any suggestions?

It was really nice to meet some new faces the other night; I loved meeting Candela, Louise, Rocco's friend from California(sorry impossible to remember the spelling of your name), Tom, and the other guys, and great to see Desha, Daniel and Rocco himself again. I was sorry Ena wasn't there, but it's always grrreat to see our "SuperJeremias" "in action".

Raquelita, next time 'te dar un toque' a little sooner just in case Smiler .

Hi everyone! It was great getting together like that and also loved meeting everyone though I am sorry I was so hecha polvo from all my late night writing.

I am trying to think of a place to go and one suggestion I had was La Moderna in Santa Ana, though on Thursday night it might be packed. Nonetheless they have a large seating area in the back and the tapas are amazing. Beers run about 2, and wines about 1.50.

Sorry, but a vicious head cold is preventing me from thinking of more places. Red Face Oh, I know...in Tirso de Molina there is Cafe Tirso de Molina, it is pretty cheap and decent, though loud and smoky...wait that is most bars around here, no??

Ok kiddies, other suggestions?????

Everything sounds good to me Smiler !
El Almendro(niiice!) and La Rosa(cheeeap!), both in La Latina, can also be two more possibilities.

Well Becks, of course the big Maceira is always another possibility (I guess you really liked their sangra 'eh pillina'?) Big Grin

This past weekend I've "discovered" another nice place where we could go sometime, it's I guess a mini-chain of restaurants called Entre Tapas y Vinos. Though most of their other locations are around the Salamanca district, I've visited the one in Cl Mayor, very very close to MultiMadrid headquarters, I mean, Jer and Ena's 'casita'. I liked the place, I wouldn't say it's in the cheap side, but it's reasonable Roll Eyes . Inspite the name they don't really have many tapas 'propiamente dichas' in offer, actually, what they have (among other things) is a selection of 'tostas', and then some 'croquetas', 'huevos rotos', stuff like that, lots of nice creative salads, some sort of "combos" that can be "meaty", "fishy", or both, and heavenly desserts (most of them involving ice-cream and/or chocolate :l: )
The decor is not "Caas y Tapas-style" but rather trendy, with what certain people here call a New Yorkish kind of flavour.
They have a webpage if anybody wants to check them out.

Hey gang.

Due to illness, I am going to have to postpone this week's Thursday gathering.

So, unless Candela or anyone else wants to keep it going and post on the time and place, we will work out something for next Thursday, Feb. 27th.

Back to the sick bed for me :z:

Saludos,
jer...

Great attitude Shawn.

The simple pleasures...

Jer,

I would have to agree with you. Life doesn't get any better than this. I wish I were there now, but with the way time is flying by, when you look up, I will be there for good.

I will bring the books that we discussed, as well as other things.

Un abrazo fuerte y saludos a Ena. Espero que se sienta mejor.

Shawn

THANK YOU REDWOOD!

I am feeling better...only coughing for two minutes at a time instead of ten, and only once an hour instead of five! also, i got internet today and my customer service agent also happens to be my dearest friend in madrid. finally, i got a new cell phone and was able (thanks to jer's advice) keep my phone number!

now, we have to get back on track with that multimadrd thang....hmmm, where to go, where to go??? Pim's idea of Entre Vinos y Tapas sounds good, as does mine about Cafe Moderna. Someone decide PLEASE. I tend to be pushy (the ex event planner in me) so let me know and I will be there!

OKAY OKAY I GET IT! I am the planner. Entonces, with the utmost joy and anticipation I announce....the 2nd MM hang session.

When? This Thursday at 830ish. That is the 27th of February.

Where? La Caserola, C/Echegaray, 6 (or 4) I don't remember. Closest Metros are Sol and Sevilla.

Why? 1) Because La Caserola has the BEST and I truly mean the BEST croquetas in teh world. Also it is alot cheaper than the other sites we mentioned above. 2) Because we had so much fun meeting each other last time and will have three times the fun this time. 3) Why not?

So post if you are coming right here on this very board...or just show up. (please note, i won't arrive until 930 as I have a late class in Plaza Castilla on jueves.)

My cell if you have any Qs is 610 064 964. Jer will post his too.

PS Whoever gets there first, please snag a table for 8 or so.

See you then, xoxox Candela
