Hi Everyone, Irene, my folks, and I will be in Madrid for St. Patrick's Day, and will probably be going to tubbymurphy's pub for a pint of Guinness. Not yet sure what time we might be there, because we might spend the majority of the day in Toledo. However, it might be fun to meet up with some people. I think Tubby said they've scheduled a band from Ireland for a week (not sure when the start/stop dates are).

Sure! We're renting a cellphone (from our buddy Jer, of course) and will email you the number.
One of the reasons we are going to Toledo on March 17 is that it's a Monday and almost all museums are closed. We've been there before and are really just interested seeing the city as a monument in itself rather than wanting to go to its museums. However, it's good that you are going on a Tuesday when the museums will be open.
I'll get back to you on this...

Anne, check here for a map of Toledo. I remember visiting the Cathedral, El Greco's house (, the two synagogues (Transito, Santa Maria la Blanca), Iglesia de Santo Tome (Greco's "Burial of the Conde de Orgaz"), Museo de Santa Cruz, and more. All these places were pretty neat, but much of the enjoyment is just walking around.
I wish that like last time we could spend the night in Toledo because it is so much more special after all the day-trip tourists (like we will be) have returned to Madrid.

I'm excited to hear that you liked it there at night because we decided to stay overnight. We weren't sure whether to take the extra time or not, but decided to do it.
Our hesitation was in lugging our stuff around some more. But with the prices of hotels being so cheap, we're going to leave our stuff in the hotel in Madrid and just take a small bag to Toledo. Gotta love it when two hotel rooms will only cost us about $70!
Anne
Hey! I don't know when it happened exactly, but I noticed that I am no longer a Jr. Madrid/Spain nut! Hooray for me!
Remember, you can't see everything in one trip. Assume you will return. (Rick Steves)
