I'm heading out of Madrid in a couple of weeks, and haven't been able to realize a little dream of mine. I have brought over a wiffle ball bat and ball over at Christmas, and have thought it would great fun to have a VERY relaxed game in the Retiro. I just chuckle when I imagine the looks the elegant Spanish will have watching us in action
What is it? Think baseball (Rounders for you Brits) for children, with a yellow plastic bat and light harmless ball. Very easy to play, slow pitching, the works.
and for the spaniards who may be confused, one does not need a baseball glove to play wiffle ball as the ball is not heavy and one can catch it with their hand.
and Mike, a nice gesture towards multimadrid might be to leave (long-term loan ) your wiffle equipment with me so we can play in your absence (and in your honor of course ) this spring/summer.
by the way, is that the old soccer spot you are refering to? if it is, just say so and i will post a map.
If we get enough people to play it should make for quite a show.
The last time I played was at a family barbecue / get together in New York back in 1983.

As for the persuasion, how is not mentioning in public that you leave your bed (which by the way is for sale anyone interested) "sin estrenar". Oops too late
I hate quotations. Tell me what you know.

Mike, where in the hell does one buy CANS of guinness? (sorry for being ignorant).
and, do ya want em cold or room temp.?
some like em cold, some say it is a sin to drink guinness cold so i'm all confused
holaaa..., as for the map, waaaaaay back Fabrizio had posted a map of where the old soccer spot is and now i can't find it on the board. Fabrizio, if ya see this, please locate and paste that map here as i am too busy to design a new one.
as a last resort, those who do not know where the spot is can click HERE and read the following...
basically, when Mike wrote above "with your back to the lake, walk towards Alfonso XII and the Prado", you can walk down the "paseo de la argentina" as he said, away from the lake and when you get just past that flashing red star (the star is only on the map above, not in the park :jeje: ), walk off the paseo de la argentina to your right, in a diagonal line heading towards the puerta de alcala and the wiffle/soccer spot is tucked in there.
now that i have sufficiently confused the hell out of everyone , see you sunday.
Cans of Guinness - Corte Ingles or Champion. Yummy, because they have the widget at the bottom that gives the beer the special foam/texture. But, some Mahou is always good too
