Jer's influence goes beyond the Plaza Mayor, and I know that several mm fanatics live in the area around Brussels (this might go as far as Paris, London, Frankfurt or Amsterdam).
So, before one of them leaves A'dam to live in Madrid (The Nanny), I think we could meet there. I would like to suggest a lunch on Dec., 4th, but both the place and the date might be changed (other possible places could be The Hague, Antwerpen or Brussels, and other possible dates, whenever that same weekend or the following one). Chosing Amsterdam can make things easier, since I guess that the Nanny knows some places there.
I hope to see all mmers living less than 200 miles around here coming to this lunch!

If anyone wants to fly up from Madrid or anywhere in Europe for that matter, I'll play hostess for the weekend and show you around this unique city. Cheers, Bonnie

And I may keep on with the tour in Brugge and Gent on Sunday, since I have some friends visiting me over that weekend, so I will not spend any extra effort guiding you around ;-)

This thread has to go up a little bit to make sure that we have a big gathering in Amsterdam!!!
There is another person coming on Dec., 4th. He will be kind enough to drive me to A'dam, but he has never been there, so he would like to visit the city. Can we get a "guided tour" of Amsterdam from any of you? ;-) ... Even more, we will need first hand info about night life there,... since we are already looking for a hotel for that night (any suggestions about this would be welcome!).

Oops, sorry for not responding to your request for a guide of Amsterdam. I can totally show you around, though I'll try to get one of my Dutchie friends to come along as it's not really my city, I'm only borrowing it for a while. Highlights will include the Dam, the Red Light district, and I'll point you towards the museums, including the famous Heiniken one, where three beers are included in the price of admission. I can completely commit to lunch on Saturday though we have someone coming in to interview for my position so I'm still not totally sure how much I need to be around here for that, however Sunday you'll have my full and undivided attention. If you don't mind a later dinner time for Saturday, I know of a great traditional Dutch restaurant, though it's a bit touristic. :s: They make excellent stamppot! The closer it gets the more excited I'm getting.

With less than a week to go till the scheduled Amsterdam meetup we need to revive this thread. Aside from Max and his friend I'm curious as to who else is planning on coming. Max, what time are you scheduled to arrive?

I think that MizteryDeb is joining us too. In fact, I hope so.
And I cannot know now when we are arriving. Maybe we're taking a couple of more Spaniards with us, just for transport, since they have their own plans in Amsterdam for the weekend. And I would like to stop in The Hague in our way there. (I expect to be able to tell you something about this later this week.)
So, if you find it suitable, we might have an early dinner - early for Spanish standards ;-) If you prefer lunch, we could have a late one - late for Dutch standards :-) ... I'm quite sure that we will be there by 14.00. We're are probably (99% sure, I am still looking for a better option) staying in the Ibis by the "Centraal Station", and I can my find my way to any place in A'dam, since "ik sprekt Nederlands"
:jeje:
... I mean, I know how the "strippenkaart" system works, and I think I have a map.
Btw, no "red lights", but my friend is desperate for going out on Saturday night and visiting the city the day after,... any volunteers?

Holaaaa will kill me if I wont come so late lunch sounds great! Can't stay too long though because next day I'm going to my parents to celebrate Sinterklaas (don't ask :lo: )and I still have some wrapping gifts thing to do (and more). Ok then, looking forward to meet you all on saturday

I've invited my Dutch friends that have an equal love of Madrid but all of them have Sinter Klas conflicts. Everyone seems to have put off thier shopping till the last minute. Early dinner actually works better for me, but as Deb has family commitments we might have to meet up at different times. However for dinner I suggest a fab spanish restaurant called Granada. It's in the Leidseplein area, I'll post the exact address tomorrow as I have to look it up.
I'm so excited!

So, we may have a late lunch with MizteryDeb and an early dinner with The Nanny. In the short in-between, we can even help with the Sint-Niklaas gift wrapping (I know the Belgian tradition),... but who's going to guide us through the unknown "Amsterdamse nacht"?

Oops, sorry I guess I wasn't clear. I can do dinner and onwards as the only time I'm not available is in the afternoon. From the evening onward I'm totally free.
