I along with a friend are organising a Speed Dating night next week here in Madrid, Tuesday 30th to be precise. This is all part of a charity rally we're taking part in this summer, we're raising money for the following NGO's:
We intend to hold one Speed Dating night per week throughout June and we hope to have between 10 and 15 guys and girls per night, so you'll get between 10 and 15 "dates" in the one evening.
The cost is €15 per person, this includes your first drink. Of this we send €10 to the charities.
We've done a bit of advertising and have had a fantastic response from the single men of Madrid but we're lacking on the ladies front.
So come along, support some good causes and who knows maybe you'll meet your half an orange as the Spanish say

where do the other 5 euros go?
the production cost of a drinky is NOT 5 euros, not by a loooong shot
they should donate all but the first drink making cost (1 euro?) to charity. the bar or restaurant you have the date nights at will make enough on second, third, fourth, etc... drinks.
The other €5 goes to the bar for the first drink. I see what you are saying Jer, but as we are pretty much having exclusive use of the bar for the night, they are taking the risk on whether people will drink that much, there has to be a carrot for them!
Still €10 per person to charity is better than nothing, there are other companies that organise speed dating who also charge €15 per person and you can bet not one cent of that goes to charity.
Anyway back to topic, come on ladies, don't be shy!
as you may or may not know, I organize a monthly women's dining club. A good percentage of the women are single of the nearly 200 female members. i was confused too until i realized there was a link to english pilot's rally team in the original post. that is the charity...the rally...which i think supports red cross programs in mongolia in the end....
anyway, i can't do speed dating but i'd love to do the rally one year!

Yes we know the Spanish Bullfighters, well Alberto anyway, they seem like really nice guys. As for the speeddating most of the men signed up so far are Spanish, so I guess they'll prefer to speak Spanish, although we're trying to ensure everybody has a reasonable level of both languages so there's not 7 minutes of sign language!

The speeddating events are to raise money for the charities which are benefiting from the rally, so it's not exactly off topic
The speed dating will start at 9.30pm sharp on 30th May, although we'd like everybody to arrive by 9pm to make sure everyone is ready to start at 9.30pm. I need to know by Monday at the latest if you want to go, to reserve your space.
It's going to take place in a funky bar near Atocha, which is also quite quiet during the week, so perfect for the speed dating. Once you confirm I'll send you the details through for the bar.
As regards speaking Spanish, it's not vital, out of the 15 men confirmed for Tuesday, 4 are English native speakers and the other 11 are Spaniards, all of whom have told me they have a reasonable level of English.
I'm presuming you're female obviously! If you're not then sorry and obviously you'll have to wait until the next event to take part, as we have our full compliment of men for next week.
