Sorry but we're going to have to cancel the Speed Dating again tonight, just not enough ladies signed up, obviously we need fairly even numbers of both sexes to make the nights work.
From now on we shall only be organising 2 events per month, one for 25-38 year olds and another one for the over 38's. Watch this space for more info.
i must say i am pretty surprised by the consistent lack of ladies for these speed dating nights
i did notice that you seem to post here about the events the day of and not sooner which does not give much heads up time for gals who may stumble accross this thread.
is it possible to just plan the events a month ahead and set the 2 nights in stone so people can have more warning?
i think you should (if you don't already have) set up a speed dating madrid website (as basic as it may be) where you can inform about the events and list dates, venues and maybe even post photos.
i am more than willing to donate the webspace and host the site at an address on multimadrid such as www.multimadrid.com/speeddatingmadrid if you want. i can even help with the design and set-up.
Cheers for the offer of the webspace etc, we are now going to be running the events in collaboration with someone else and we'll be using their website. Hopefully we can get some good numbers signed up for this months events!
We will now be holding the Speed Dating events in conjunction with Mocaenboca (the online dating cafe based here in Madrid).
We have 2 events planned for this month: Thursday 19th October for 25-40 year olds and Thursday 26th October for 35-50 year olds. Start time is at 9pm on both evenings and they will take place in the usual place: Nietzsche, Calle Doctor Fourquet 12.
If you'd like to take part, you need to go to the Mocaenboca website, register (if you haven't already) and then pay in advance for whichever night you want to go to. Click the link below to take you directly to the site: Mocaenboca
Also we will be donating a percentage from each entrance fee to the childrens charity UNICEF.
Places will be limited to 15 men and 15 women on each night. So stop waiting and start dating!
That is surprising that you don't have enough girls for speed dating. Here in D.C. their events website is in need of guys. Maybe you could change the age Categories to like 21-35 or something cuz 25-38 is good for the older people but doesn't help the youngins that like younger people. I've never done speed dating but personally I end up with people younger then me. Or you could do a reduced price for girls 20Euros is a little steep.

hey vadingo, as someone who just turned 35, i must thank you for calling me an "older person"
as for the 20 euros, that is up 5 euros from the opening speed dating even on the first page of this thread...
quote:
The cost is €15 per person, this includes your first drink. Of this we send €10 to the charities.
if i am not mistaken, they have increased it since the bar this one is at, Nietzsche, is very expensive. just a guess but if you are still giving 10 euros of the 20 to charity, that means Nietzsche is charging 10 euros for the drink
perhaps you should find more reasonable places to have these events at?

saludos, jer...
The price increase is due to the fact that we're now doing it conjunction with someone else and not entirely for charity as we were doing before, of the €20, €5 goes to the bar for the drink and a percentage goes to the charity UNICEF.
Nietzsche, while not being the cheapest bar in Madrid admittedly is not excessively expensive either, prices for a bottle of beer or glass of wine are €3 and €7 for a mixed drink, which is the same as any trendy bar in the centre these days.

We've started the age range at 25, as we figured that folks under 25 usually are very active on the social scene and have no problems meeting others, however if anyone under the age of 25 wants to take part, they are more than welcome, obviously they need to take into consideration most participants will be older than 25.
As for the €20 being a little steep, we're probably the cheapest Speed Dating organisers around, another company here in Madrid charges €35 per person and in the US and the UK you can be charged as much as $70 or 40 GBP per person, now that's steep Also we do give a percentage to charity, I'm not sure many Speed Dating organisers do the same !
