hello ladies and gentleman, myself and my friend are heading to barcelona at the end of feb for 2 1/2 weeks. We're from Nova Scotia, Canada, and if anybody would like to meet us, show us around for a day or something, it would be pretty cool. We are both 21 and are just two nice canadians guys on a trip.

Hey joseph, Barcelona is a great city but a 2 1/2 week vacation there is overkill Eeker

I know, you will be travelling around as well to other places and using BCN as a base, good idea.

I hope ya get some travel buddies out of this thread.

2.5 weeks does seem like a long time to be in one city. However, if you need a suggestion on a day trip (itd probably be nice for a night too), I just loved Girona. I didnt think I would enjoy a smaller-sized town more than Ronda, but I believe this is my favorite.

The new town and old town are separated by a river with lots of great crossing bridges. There are houses right on the river in all sorts of colors.

We spent all of our time in the old part, getting lost in the curvy streets in the jewish quarter. Very similar to Toledo, but prettier because you were always going up and down stairs and along old walls with hanging plants.

There were a lot of unique boutiques and artsy stores, along with trendy restaurants and pubs, each seeming different from the next. The cathedral was also really pretty.

Anyhow, just my opinion. Have fun!

I have just returned from my 2nd visit to Barcelona in less than 12 months, and I always find plenty to do. Having said that I have not stayed more than 5 days, but I suggest you take the Bus Touristic from Placa de Catalunya. There are 2 routes, as with the Madrid Vision bus, and you can get on and off at any of the stops. If you buy a 2 day ticket you can spend at least 3 hours visiting one of the main tourist attractions, i.e. Sagrada Familia, Futbol Club Barcelona and Montjiuc. This way you can fill in all of the daylight hours, at night you can get the Metro up to Placa Espanya and see the musical fountain which operates between 7.30. and 8.30pm.
A trip to Monserrat, 68km. northwest of Barcelona, is a great day out too. You could also visit Sitges on the coast and Penedes the winery area and sample wines at one of the 40+ wineries producing sparkling bubbly.
What ever you choose to do enjoy your time in Catalonia!!!!!

I love spain
