Hey all, checking in here from NY on THE most important thread of the week as we ar making these plans.

melinda, kike is right, no need to ask permission to come.

Was at my buddy's wedding last night and a few friends have confirmed they are joining us at Xunta.

OH MAN!!! Unfortunately I can't make this event because I am going to Miami Thursday-Sunday... I've been MIA from this site for a while, but Esperanza was nice enough to send me an email about it. I organized the last 2 madrid dinners in NY, and they were both great!

Have a blast guys, and I'll look forward to seeing some new people and some "regulars" at the next dinner, which I'll try to organize for the end of april. Nos vemos pronto!

Jer, I am so happy you and Ena are enjoying your trip...I hope you bring the warm weather with you to NY it has been so cold these past few days and it even snowed a bit yesterday...( Mother nature playing an April Fool's joke ), I guess Anyway, it is looking like my husband and I will not be able to join you all after all on Saturday night at Xunta. My older daughter( our babysitter) is going out to a party, so there is no one to take care of our younger daughter. I am SO bummed out! I was looking forward to meeting you guys again and really hanging out. ( and XUNTA is a great place!!) Just our quick little visit in January was too short. And I wanted to get to know Ena (without a towel-turban wrapping her hair! )..But seriously, I will still work on coming to the gathering, but it is looking quite unlikely.

well guys...how was Xunta the other night? I was thinking of you all and I hope it was great fun. Xunta is definitely a little piece of Spain in NYC...tell us all about it :cheers:

How was it? Hm?

So you were the traitor!! We had fun! and really enjoyed the Sangria!! :cheers: The food was OK. Mostly everything was fairly good (for NY Spanish food standards) but the patatas bravas were very dissapointing. The place was really crowded but we were assigned a non heavy-traffic area, so it was OK.
Jer showed up a bit late (we can really see he's adjusted to the Spanish culture!)...he claims the police asked him to move his car from a certain spot because nearby there was a body laying on the pavement. The truth is Jer probably was driving like a Spanish maniac and hit-and-run the poor fella

Hey Mermaid & marcela you were missed

I can't begin to tell you all the great time we had the ithe night at Xunta

It was sooooo cooool meeting all the new peeps and putting faces to the nicknames.

As kike says, the food was pretty good but pricy (not for Manhattan however), guess it can't be compared to Madrid (what can be?).

For the record, I arrived before 9:00pm kike Just could not get there early as I had hoped. The gang shooting (or whatever it was) story was true I went back to the car to feed the meter and left Ena and my mom at a coffee shop nearby and when I neared the car, there were 2 groups of people yelling at each other, a guy on the floor who was out of it and cops everywhere. They made me and the 2 cars behind mine move. I spent an hour looking for another parking space, a NIGHTMARE!!! Ena and my mom were very worried but it all worked out in the end.

Well, I must say that meeting up in NYC was a GREAT idea and the BEST send off we could have had on the eve of our flight back to Madrid.

I have a lot of pics of my trip but the one of the gang at "Xunta" is, by far, one of the most treasured.
