Finally I feel like I can be helpful on this board! I do know my Spanish restaurants here in NY here is a link showing many good places to try! As for Mesa de Espaa: well, I was not too impressed! The food was just okay and the prices were average NY prices ( on the high side!). This is what really disappointed me though: After my hubby and I had dinner, I approached the manager( owner?) about coming back in a couple of weeks with a group of my High School Seniors as an end of semester tapas celebration. I wanted to know what could be done to prepare a good Spanish lunch for them. Well, the owner was very uninterested in our business. He said they could order from the menu but told me I could not come with a group of 15 especially during their normal lunch hours in the middle of the week. I really did not like his attitude. He was quite pompous. So, my advice would be to go to some of the other places on the list. I have been to most of them and they are respectable and good. Buen provecho.

Hi marcela, I think you have a LOT more to share than you may think. You would be surprised by the stuff that interests the wacky peeps who visit this board :jeje: Well, from what you have reported, the owner of "Mesa de Espaa" sounds like he is a greedy businessman. It is very common to find restaurant owners like that in the US who are only interested in making fistsfull of money. In this case, it would seem that the owner is NOT into sharing the Spanish food and culture with young people (ie. your students). SHAME!!! Good thing you did not ask him for a group discount Saludos, jer...
