hello. i am a chinese girl from singapore. this is my first time in madrid and i have been feeling very lost over the last few days. i will be here for another week and if any of you will be kind enough to include me in some of the outings, i will be very grateful.

unfortunately, i will not be around this friday as i am making a trip out of madrid over this weekend. would be nice to be there for the gathering tho�. you people sound like a really fun lot.

i�ve read about the gatherings organised by forocio. they have exchange parties on thurs and discussion groups on wednesdays. have anyone been to the gatherings? are they as fun as you people?

hey kookiemonz, forocio is a great coompany, they really do a lot of neat stuff (weekend trips around spain, parties, intercambios) but there is a HUGE difference between our multimadrid get togethers and the stuff they organize.

mainly, they are a company whish is motivated financially (to make money from their gatherings) whil multimadrid is just a hobby of mine and we get together just to enjoy each other's company :cheers:

you see, here at multimadrid we are a much closer bunch, we know each other pretty well and (although everyone and anyone is welcome at our gatherings), we the mm gang tends to become a lot closer than the peeps who would go to those parties and events organized by forocio.

by NO MEANS are we exclusive here at multimadrid but we simply tend to become closer friends than you would find at a forocio party.

the forocio parties at the palacio de gaviria on thursday nights are also a very young crowd. usually ages 18-22 (and a few 40 year old guys lurking about looking for younguns to pick up) while the multimadrid crowd tends to be 22-40. all ages are totally welcome at our gatherings but most mm-ers are over 22.

the forocio parties attract a HUGE amount of people so it is hard to really get to know anyone. our gatherings are smaller and more personal.

Hi, kookiemonz, and welcome to Madrid. Hope you're having a good time here. Just wanted to put a plug in for the mmb gathering on Friday- I'd love to meet you. I'm from the Philippines originally, moved to Madrid in May but between 1996 and early this year I used to go to Singapore almost every month and have lots of friends there. You can't imagine how much I miss the food - you can torture me with stories of laksa, kaya toast, nasi lemak, chee cheong fun, cendol, roti prata, sate, and other delights you simply cannot get here. I'm usually the only Asian guy around at the bar so it's easy to spot me. Hope to see you!
