ok, last night i went to the OPEN TO EVERYONE and TOTALLY FREE indoor (sweet court) volleyball game that Fabrizio and Gerardo's gym pays for twice a month.
had a blast but we were only 4 people, me, Tony (liberty) and Montse (the gal from the gym who organizes the games) and sarah (a gal who joined in after her dance class ended). it is beyond my understanding how only 3 people (sarah was a suprise) could want to play for FREE on an awesome indoor court
so, with the express written permission of Montse (organizer and owner of the vball ), i am shouting out to ANYONE AND EVERYONE...
1) you do NOT have to play well, only want to have a good time. 2) there is no fixed meeting schedule, there are games about twice a month. 3) don't be intimidated to come alone and if you want to bring others, please do.
info...
when: - next game is tentatively set for tuesday, march 1st from 8-9pm. i will post here as the date gets closer to confirm/remind peeps.
where: - polideportivo "diaz y velarde" (public gym). - calle del alberche (where the "pasaje de alberche" meets the "calle de alberche"). - metro: pacifico (line 1). - MAP HERE - when you enter the polideportivo via the main entrance on calle alberche (after going up some stairs outside in front of the building), don't wait in line at the cashier, just go around into the gym through the glass doors and to your right, around the dividing wall and we play just on the other side.
if you need to, call Montse on 626386911, she can talk you in if you can't find us.
and if i was not clear enough above, this is OPEN TO EVERYONE and TOTALLY FREE!!!
this is the perfect opportunity to play for those of you who have been nagging about starting up our multimadrid vball oudoor games at the park.
holaaa..., wish i had control over the dates but as stated in number "2)" above, no fixed schedule.
i do not organize this, Montse (see above) does and her gym pays for it. it is the same gym that Fabrizio and Gerardo go to so they also have info on the vball.
the gym pays like 33 euros for the hour so we (they) can play for for free so i just think it is a damn shame for the court to go to waste
Montse just calculated 2 weeks from last night and came upo with march 1st for the next game.
i will stay in contact with Fabrizio, Gerardo and her about the next game and confirm here as soon as i know for sure.
Just one detail: This team meets to train for our yearly tournament. Not just to have a good time.
At the end of the day, we are trying to improve so we can beat the oposing teams. So you don't have to play well, the same way many of the "official" players we don't play well. But you have to come to enjoy yourself, and try to improve. This is not a past time, to lose some of the winter fat, but to actually competitively beat the other people on our social yearly tournament. Basically the same than on multimadrid's volleyball Sunday, but you have to remember that this is a team sport, there are a set of rules, and there are a set # of procedures such as dig-set-spike that are to be followed...
I hate quotations. Tell me what you know.

yes Fab, Montse mentioned that once a year you have an anniversary and play against the pozuelo club and that we (the "outsiders" ) could not participate in that reindeer game.
she also said that you guys always win anyway, whether you practice or not
sorry i left out the rules thang, of course it is a good idea to work on your game and form.
howeeeeeeveeeer, Montse did say "bring as many people as you like" and since of the 2 times i went to play, the first time we were only 6 people and the second (last night) we were 3. she also said that there are like 30 people on the "interested in v-ball" list at your health club but most do not come so i just wanted to get people to show and make the games more interesting.
also, if ya think about it, last night if the mm-ers (liberty and myself) did not show up, Montse would have been all alone even SHE got a good laugh out of that one.
you should have seen us, we even tried to get the guys who work at the polidepor. to play with us after they set up the net.
they were not dressed for the occasion so it was just us, me playing against liberty and Montse. i was allowed to bump, set and spike all by myself. funniest part was that... I WON :jeje:
BY NO MEANS Fabrizio did i mean to say your games are a joke and i am pretty sure that any mm-er who goes will do their best and be a team player.
Me! Me! Me!!!!! I wanna play, I wanna play!!!! And that plan sounds really good. Nothing professional but a little bit of competition sounds fun. Count me in!!! = ) I will spike down your throat, fabrizio. SO eat your pasta and get that muscle and fat moving!!!
"Most powerful is he who has himself in his power."
Now that volleyball is open to everyone of all skill levels and I will be able to physically dominate again I will do my best to get there next time even though I normally finish work at 8pm.
See you there or be square.
