I want to go to the Magnetic Fields and Budapest concerts, 22nd and 28th October respectively. Problem is I have no friends who want to join me :-( Therefore, Im calling out to any people who like these groups who would accompany me to the concerts. Its a bit sad I know, advertising for friends in this way but dont worry, Im pretty normal and youd only have to stand next to me and nod a few time in mutual respect of the wonderful artists. You can contact me via email.
Regards,
Suzy
Ps. Stalkers and other oddballs please abstain.

The Magnetic Fields are one of my favorite "groups." Where are they playing? I saw them about 4 years ago in DC, it was a great show.
His lyrics are amazing. Like "You're making me blue . . . pantone 292." Obviously another frustrated graphic designer! I had to go look it up in the color book. FYI, it's a light, sky blue.

So, Budapest are doing European tours are they? Does that mean they've made it?
Someone gave me their first Single/EP about six years ago, by an acquaintance who told me he was their PR man. I don't think he was, he was full of s***, but I remember the CD being OK.
Do you reckon I could get backstage? "Oi, mate, I knew this guy once who said he was your PR man"
Papa...The Magnetic Fields will be playing at the Palacio de los Congresos Friday 22nd October. With them are Astrud, a great Spanish group. Tickets cost around 20 euros (seating only - hence my need to go with someone, alone with my thermos flask Id look a bit sad).
Cervantes - Im sure the chances of you meeting the group is quite high. I cant see this being a sell out. In fact, I might be the only person there. If so, Ill invite them to this forum, then we can find out once and for all if the PA man ever existed.
Hasta otra....

Paul, Andy... Dunno, could be anything. He hung out in Uxbridge for a while in 1999. He had a brother who died, I remember that. And he was a compulsive liar, so it is even possible that he never had a brother, though its a bit harsh to distrust someone on that sort of thing, so I'll take his word for it.
Where is this gig? How much is it? End of the month, I'm gonna be a little poor, but I may be interested.
The Budapest boys will be playing at Sala Arena on Thursday 28th October. Tickets cost 14 euros. Theyll be joined by Les Philippes, who are a Catalan group and er, thats all I can tell you.
14 euros, thats under 10 quid, a bargain I would say.
Come on, you know you want to!!

on the venue chosen, i can say that arena is a good place for concerts. i have been to a few concerts there and it is small, more intimate and the sound is good.
Ok, I know I missed the two gigs that soooooze started this thread for, but I thought I'd continue the thread with an invitation to see The Divine Comedy and Graham Coxon on 11 November.
For those of you who heard Graham Coxon's wierdo lo-fi stuff he did when between Blur albums and weren't that impressed, I have to say the new album is great - the man has re-found his pop sensibilities and he would be well worth seeing.
Also, considering both acts are British, we may get a nice tribute to the late great John Peel. I presume all of you who know who John Peel is know that he sadly died this week. Its times like this that I really feel far from home and it would be nice to speak to some people who are feeling this great loss.
Hey Cervantes, I grew up on John Peel, so I do know how you feel to a certain extent. I say, to a certain extent, cos I had the feeling you were a "young'un" so didnt expect his death to affect you so much.
I wont be around to go to those concerts, but if you know of anything on 24th November, I will gladly go with you. In July SWF took me to see Dylan, and Candy kindly came to see Stevie Winwood with me!!! The last time I saw him live was in 1988!!!!!!!!! And I have the badge to prove it

Ok, reading back on my own post, it was comes across a little strong. I'm not THAT upset - I've shed a tear or two reading all the tributes, but I'm ok.
Having said that, it is the saddest celebrity death in my life. And the fact that I am a "young'un" is irrelevant - John Peel was still essential listening to genuine music fans up until the day he died, despite his years there was no one playing the kinds of things he was playing and so many bands of today are indebted to him.
Blimey, I knew as soon as I turn up at a mm social I would get reminded of my youth every 5 minutes, but Madsue wasn't even there!
Sorry Cervantes!!! And its madsue to you young man!! I can understand your sadness though, he was very popular. Now......if it had been, say, Tony Blackburn........perhaps the emotion wouldnt have been so great!
Back to topic, did you find any other concerts on or can you offer any web pages I could look at?

Thanks Cervantes!! Have had a quick look on those sites, couldnt find anything for the dates Im in Madrid. But.......Van Morrison is playing in Benidorm while I am there!! Woohoo!!!!!!
