Sheila, so glad you posted! Congratulations! Would love to get together with you, César and Jackie sometime. Angelito has a couple of months on Jackie, but I am sure they would be great friends! smiler

Sheila spoke of how quickly time passes... it's hard to believe that our little Angelito kiss turns 5 months old today!

Anyway, I thought I would share with you all the contact information for the guardería where we have just enrolled him for September so that Mommy (a.k.a. Chica) can focus more strongly on her business.

Sol Y Luna Playschool is a new English nursery school located in the Arturo Soria section of Madrid (opened November, 2005). Angel, Angelito and I checked it out yesterday and were very pleased with its facilities and the personnel there. The owner is British/American and hails from Virgina, USA. Economically speaking it is much cheaper than any of the other English daycare centers (we were given quotes of 600€+/month). At Sol y Luna the cost is 420€ per month for a 6 hour day.

So, for those of you looking, I recommend that you check it out. As you can see on the website, everything is new and clean. I loved the kiddie sized toilets!

One caveat however... I think we got the last baby slot (under 1 year) available.

suerte!

Hey, tell the owner that you know me and they should give you a discount. Well, you can try anyway. die laughing

Thanks for the info. I'm looking to start a family soon and this should come in handy. All I need now is a girlfriend.

Shawn, you cheeky monkey. These days you don't need a girlfriend to start a family. You just need a wealthy loving sugar daddy to pay for the surregate, not to mention all the nappies you'll need, formula, the thousands of euros worth of baby supplies, clothing, and private schooling.

This is the weekend to recognize alternative parents. big grin

Besos,
Bonnie

smilerHi all,

Congrats to all nnew parents. My wife and I had twins 3 months ago and are now looking for a number of things!!! Firstly, does anyone know of a good place to get nannies for short periods of time? Our current help is away from July 21st to the 25th inclusive and we will need help for my wife on the Friday, Monday and Tuesday. Also we will need fultime help (Mon-Fri 07.30-18.00) from the middle of Spetemeber. Any recommendations. Lastly, what nurseries would people recommend if we want to leave them for say 1 day a week (do we need to book?).

Any other help, recommendations etc much appreciated.

Oh yeah, lastly are there any English speaking Mums who want to meet up with their todlers say onec every fortnight to chat and have coffee with my wife?

Thanks to all respondants in advance
We live near the Bernabau stadium

Thanks Jer,

I can blame it all on my wife! Twins run on her Mum's side.
I can tell you it is rediculously hard work!! The only time 1 + 1 = 5 (times the work, times less sleep!)...but I would not change it for anything!

Any kind of guidance from anyone would be welcome!!

Hasta pronto

Johnny

Hey Johnny--
I know a nanny that does freelance work. She watches one of my son's classmates afterschool and is really sweet with him and all of the other kids. She doesn't speak Engish--she's from Paraguay and speaks Spanish (perfect, beautiful Spanish--so easy to understand!) and Portuguese. Her number is 654 227 043. If you contact her, you can tell her that you got her number from Megan, "la mamá de Óscar". I mentioned it to her today, just so she would know that I was giving her number out.

My son went straight to preschool, so we never had to find a guardería... There seem to be a lot of them sprinkled around--both public and private--but I don't know firsthand how flexible the are with their schedules. Will you post back on what you discover?

It would be fun to do a mom get-together some time (my son is four, but he loves babies)... Maybe in September we could do a picnic or coffee or something. The best way that I have found to meet other parents has been spontaneously at the playgrounds and plazas and schools. It seems harder to organize things.

Hi Johnny Rioja!

Congratulations and welcome to parenthood!

I'd be happy to meet up with your wife... having just had a baby, I can relate to what she is going through. It's a challenge with one, I can't imagine how it is with two!

We live in Sanchinarro but my offices are near Plaza Castilla which is just a hop skip and a jump to Bernabeu... send me a PM with contact info and I will try to work something out with her and my crazy schedule!

And for those of you dying for an update on Ángel Rubén, we have uploaded pics to a website. You can check them out HERE. Enjoy! Can´t you tell that I am just a proud mama?! kiss
