This morning I was offered and accepted a position in Hong Kong as a nanny. I leave on Saturday (the time is not yet confirmed) and unfortunatly I won't have time to have a final mm event before I go but I wanted to let you all know how much I've appreciated your friendships and your help over these past four years.
I have a feeling Cantonese is going to be a tad bit more difficult to learn than Spanish has been.

Bye Bonnie and good luck! I still remember our trip to IKEA shortly after I arrived here last year. Thanks for helping me with one of my first Madrid outtings!
Wow Bonnie! Que cambio de aires! Good luck in your new venture! For what it's worth, I have a friend in Hong Kong. I can put you in touch with him if you would like!
Good luck and keep in touch! And keep posting your recipes!
Is your friend Spanish? I really want to connect with Spanish natives in Hong Kong. My Castellano is bad enough with out losing it due to lack of practice.
Thanks for the well wishes guys, I'm super excited but stressed as well. Just found out today that Luftansia only allows 20 kilos max of checked luggage per person. This means that I have to work out shipping boxes before I leave and shipping them by boat isn't an option because if the job doesn't work out my stuff would end up all over the place. I'm trying not to think about that though.
Besos a todos, Bonnie

Wow it's been a while since I've visited this site, sorry about that. As it turned out Hong Kong didn't work out. I really liked my time there though, it's an incredibly FUN city!
Long story short I went back to the States for a while to lick my wounds and look for a new job which after many months of searching I found. I'm now living in Italy. To be more specific in a little town between Parma and Reggio Emilio. I like living in Italy, though I'm a bit lonely as I haven't really made any friends here yet. Parma's not exactly teeming with expats, or if it is I haven't found them. I'm studing Italian now and I'm hoping that will improve my social situation soon.
Having said that, I LOVE my job. I've managed to find a job that is a cross between a nanny and an English teacher so it's a perfect fit for me. The family is great and the benefits aren't too shabby either.
So if anyones got plans to visit Northern Italy and you can spare time for a coffee look me up.
Un bacione, Bonnie
