ok gang, the long awaited thread taking up where the others left off.
vball is in full swing for the season!
this is the new v-ball thread from here on in. v-ball is still sundays begining at 4:30pm but we have changed the playing spot due to various factors that most of you already know about.
so nobody gets lost, i have put in some design time and made a map up and a route to take...
how to get there? easiest way is to get metro to atocha and walk up the "calle de claudio moyano" (aka "la cuesta de moyano"). then enter the park through the "puert del angel caido" and walk straight up the "paseo del duque de fernán nuñez". about 200 feet before you reach the "glorieta del angel caido", you will see us playing on your right hand side, can't miss us.
for those who enter the park via the main entrance at "puerta de alcalá", just walk up the "paseo de méxico" heading towards the main lake, walk along the lake (estanque) on the "salón del estanque" and keep walking straight. the "salón del estanque" turns into the "avenida de cuba" and at the end of that, when you see the statue of the angel caido (fallen angel), make a right and walk about 200 feet down the "paseo del duque de fernán nuñez", you will see us on your left.
with those directions and the map above, getting lost is IMPOSSIBLE but if you need help finding us, please call one of the following peeps...
Rocco, not for nothing and i know and trust Mike but, for the record, next time it might be a decent idea if you tell me beforehand that you are going to pass MY net over to someone else
cfk if you read the last few pages of the other (old) volleyball thread you will see what happened at the other place.
btw, to any fairweather v-ballers out there who stayed how because it was chilly today
yes, it is colder in oct. than in august and sept. (this is normal and it happens every year ) but this is peeeeerfect volleyball weather so come on out.
besides, only a few more weeks of games until we shut down for the winter.
that might explain the tendonitis i have have this week
it was weird, i do not recall having hurt myself last sunday but all of a sudden, on tuesday my achilees heel began to hurt and i went to the doctor. she said it was tendonitis for sure.
i am going tomorrow but will not play, just help set up and got to see everyone.
only a few weeks of v-ball left before we break for winter anyway fabrizio so the cold will not affect us much.
nothing new fab, we always break from early or mid nov. till late march or early april.
if ya wanna find an indoor court with net, go for it. a v-ball newbie last week also suggested that. we told him to let us know if he finds one.
i'm pretty sure any indoor court would charge for us to play (by the hour or blocks of hours?) and you know how the v-ball thing is, nobody except for Rocco and myself (really commits to going every week) so it would be impossible to get an indoor and consistent v-ball sunday going indoors if we had to pay for the court time.
i am POSITIVE that nobody here is willing to pay for the court every week in the hopes that enough peeps will show and pay to play so that person get's their money back. correct me if i am wrong and someone is willing to pay for it out of their own pocket.
if you can find a free indoor court and net set up, GREAT!!!
besides, like other sports, having a "season" makes people look forward to the new season. if it were all year, there would probably be less expectation like there is now when people look forward to the new season.
ok, final v-ball info in case anyone was wondering.
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 31st will be the last v-ball day (weather permitting until then of course) for this season.
this leaves the following sundays for v-ball...
 oct. 24th. (tomorrow).
and
oct. 31st (all hallows eve ) just 2 more sundays for v-ball.
for those of you who want to play soccer during the off v-ball season, there will be games at the retiro park (organized by "BitchyFrog" AKA Angie). see the thread SOCCER !!! or mm Futbol! anybody? for more info by clicking HERE
