Well, if things go as I plan them, I should be in Madrid this summer to play volleyball and give some leg in the game. Any takers? Shawn

Hi, for those of you on withdrawal who cannot wait until next summer to play vb, here's someone who's doing it indoors, weekdays: as huge volleyball fans my friend Eileen and I used to organise informal practices between friends and anyone who was interested out at the Complutense. But between the heat of the sun, the rain and the other "agobios" of the open air thing, we decided to sign up to a polideportivo this year. We've just had our first bounce around this last Tuesday and though we were only four (we desparately need to get the word out), it was a great time and the facilities are top of the line. You and anyone you know are definitely invited to join us and if you wouldn't mind posting the info on that Bulletin board you mentioned last time we talked, maybe we could even get enough people out to have a full team! We play every Tuesday evening at La instalación deportiva municipal Daoiz y Velarde, Calle Alberche s/n. It's perpendicular to Avenida Ciudad de Barcelona and just opposite the Calle de Sánchez Barcáiztegui exit of metro: Pacifico. We meet round 7:30-7:45 and our court booking is from 8:00 to 9:00 pm. We're charging 5 Euro per person to help cover the court rental. Let me know if you or anyone you know might be interested! If you want more info drop Senzeni a line: S C Steingruber <scsteingruber@gmail.com>

hey Lena and thanks. always low turn out when it costs money, that is part of the reason we break in the fall and winter. that polideportivo díaz y velarde was where i went to play with a few other mmers a while back. fabrizio (long lost) told us that his gymm had a court booked and paid for once every 2 weeks or so and that all we had to do was show up, it wes free. HOWEVER, i went 3 times, the first time we were only 4 playing (me, a friend and 2 from his gym), the second we were 6 and the third time we were 2 even free nobody showed, it was horrible so i never went back. Lena, i know it has nothing to do with you so don't take this as at you but "We're charging 5 Euro per person to help cover the court rental" sounds like too muich money (depending on how many people show to play). i believe the court costs 30 euros per hour so 6 people cover it. an ideal 6 on 6 for total of 12 players would generate 60 euros, where would the other 30 euros go. if Senzeni reads this, she should just split the cost of the court between the number of people that show up as that is the fairest way to do it. that is what Rob (a.k.a. EnglishPilot does for footy), sometimes it comes to 2 euros per person and other times 4 at most. saludos, jer...

Jer, Great to see volleyball being started up again. I will probably have to wait until next summer to play, but hey, as long as you scout out a great spot and put up a wonderful map with little finger running things, I'll smile. Shawn

Ok, so when are we going to get this volleyball going? Although I won't be there until August, I want to see some hips shaking and some asses moving, preferably male. But I do not discriminate. What's the verdict on volleyball? I know that Jer and Ena have a little one on the way and that Rocco's moving. A great day to all, Shawn

hey Shawn (and all). it is with heavy heart that i must post that i will not be able to get mm v-ball crankin this spring/summer. with all that is going on in my life right now, there is just no time to be responsable for setting up the net and being there every sunday. i am not sure if Rocco is up to doing it as he also has a lot going on with his upcoming move north. i will however take this opportunity to offer the use of the net and volleyballs to any mm-er who is wanting and willing to take over the organization of the sunday afternoon games. all i ask is that is be someone responsable and trustworthy and who is willing to commit to being there and setting up on sundays (or any other day in the event the person wants to change the day). anyone? saludos, jer...

If someone wants to get things started with volleyball on June 17 or July 1st I can bring you the net and show you how to set it up and then leave you in charge of the gear on behalf of Jer. Rocco.

It is with a heavy heart that I read this, but I understand. Life happens. If nothing gets started this summer, there's always next summer. Shawn

vadingo99, We can do whiffle ball instead. I will be very honest with you, for I do not want to be in charge of the net and setting it up on Sundays. I will arrive early and help to set it up like I've always done, but to do more than that does not interest me. Shawn

Vadingo99, I should be in Madrid at about the same time. If it's not TOO hot, I am up for volleyball. If it's TOO hot, then we can play wiffle under the trees. Shawn
