I have noticed that it seems quite a few poeple are going to be in Madrid in March (myself included Big Grin ) I am wondering how many of us will be there at the same time and can maybe plan a get together of some sort.

I'm arriving in Madrid on March 11, but leaving the next day for Sevilla. Then I will be back in Madrid from the 16-19. So if any of you are going to be there (or are already there. Jer, this means you Red Face ) I'd love to meet you all.

Since this is getting closer, I'm bumping this up to see if anyone is interested in planning something.

Hey,tubby, just how big a deal is St. Patrick's Day in Madrid? Are there lots of Irish folk in the city? I ask as one of 40 million Irish-Americans. As you may know, here it is a holiday of wretched excess, including dye-ing both the Chicago River and lots of lager green.

Hola! I also will be in Madrid from March 9th thru March 22nd and am a lone traveller meeting up with a friend for part of my journey. For the other part, I would love to meet up with like minded travellers savoring life at large. I am open to any hints or suggestions and can't express enough gratitude to Jer for this fabulous site.

Diana,
I'm actually going to be there the exact same time. Although I'm stuck with family until the 17th. I'm going to be on my own after that and have no plans.

I will have access to e-mail during my trip. Why don't we chat and/or meet after the 17th and we can discuss side trips or simply Madrid over coffee? I'll be on the lookout for messages on this board.

If you're available on the 17th, some of us plan to visit tubbymurphy's pub that night for a pint on St. Patrick's Day (Irish music and Guinness, both served up by Irishmen who know what they are doing). We plan to stop by on our way back from Toledo that day.

Hey, I'm a TOTAL Madrid nut now! Big Grin

Hello all! This is my first post here. I'm coming up with some last minute plans for spring break, somewhere in the neighborhood of March 16-25, and I'm thinking of going to Spain. I would love to meet up with people from this board who'll be there in March. I'm not sure exactly where I'll go yet, and I'm hoping for some advice from this site - all I'm going on so far is advice from friends who've visited in the past.

Paul Diane and anyone else. Why don't we plan on meeting at "tubbymurphy's" on the 17th. If anyone wants to meet beforehand I may be able to. Its not hard convincing me to meet at one of the Irish Bars in Madrid. I spent my nights at one when I used to live there in highschool.

I'm not sure where tubbymurphy's is though.

....

Man I'm getting excited about this trip.

Tubbymurphy is the name of a multimadrid member who RUNS an Irish pub called the Irish Rover.

(I had mistakenly thought it was Moore's, see below for the address and location; edited March 5 at 16:03)

I think we are going to Toledo that day and plan to hit it in the evening. When we get our time more figured out and get our cellphone number (renting one from Jer), we'll let you know. Smiler

Hola Paul,
Please forgive my intrusion, but Tubbymurphy sent me his website and his pub is called the The Irish Rover.

The Irish Rover Club
Avda del Brasil, 7.
Madrid 28020 Madrid. Spain
Ph. [0034] 915 974 811 [0034] 915 557 671 theirishrover@theirishrover.com

I'd hate for you all to intend to visit tubbymurphy and end up elsewhere, which I am sure that Moore's is also a lovely place!
