not my offer but i saw this in a paper today and the pay (if true) looks great.

quote:
ENGLISH JET
TEACHERS NEEDED

Everyone knows if you pay peanuts you get monkeys.
Join the winning team beat the monkeys.
Unlike others, we don't pay peanuts.

No one else quotes their rates, as they know they DO NOT PAY the same cash as ENGLISH JET.
Our rates start from 22,30 to 25,30 Euro per hour.

Native EFL teachers required.
Minimum requirements 6 years experience.
Phone Joan on 91 590 3917 and get the cash you deserve.

Calle Principe de Vergara 211
joan@englishjet.com

i know nothing else so don't ask me. i just put this up since apparently so many english teachers are tired of getting paid 10-15 euros per hour.

if anyone has worked for english jet or finds out more about the ad above, please post here.

saludos,
jer...

Wow, if they're serious about that it already eliminates most of the English teachers I know. Thats assuming that they're refering to 6 years teaching experience and not just job experience.

true and i guess that is how they weed out the "backpacker english teachers" from the real ones.

can't blame them for wanting carreer teachers can we.

still, i know a lot of teachers who have those years teaching exp. and still moan and groan about the 15 euros/hour they are making.

even if you only have a few years eng. teaching exp., i suppose if you are a good teacher and you just faked the c.v., they would have no idea you do not have 6 yrs. exp.

It's not actually that great an offer: it's for autonomo work, and so after taxes and your obligatory 220-ish a month contributions, it doesn't work out to all that much at all. There are lots of schools offering 16/17/18 euros an hour without being an autonomo.
Just another McSchool I'm afraid. frowner

Yep, I've heard about them too. It's attractive for the few of us who do in fact plan to keep teaching indefinitely.

The thing is, I'm only in year two of teaching and am able to get 18-25 euros an hour, and I don't have TEFL (although I do have unrelated teaching experience). I'm not doing anything special or heroic. One 25 euro/hour class I got completely by accident...thinking one person was someone else and emailing them. You just have to keep making connections and talking to people and finding where those classes are. They are out there, no need to wait 6 years.
