Just one little innocent question, and look what happened... In the future I'll take your advice, jer, about not encouraging Rocco's love of colorful expressions.

nutz maybe the Ikea wood dust?

I was talking about the pimp slap link that Rocco posted. It takes you to a Flash game where you get to "pimp slap a ho"...

Definitely not as catchy as the catapult santa, but still fun for a couple of tries big grin

the training express peeps have a big ad in the august inmadrid paper so they must need teachers for sept. pretty badly.

about 10 other academies also have ads, looks like a teachers market out there.

Yes, definitely a teacher's market, meaning if you have any qualifications and/or experience, you needn't accept low wages (eg 12-13 euros/hour). You should be able to do better than that, except perhaps first-timers.

And if anyone needs help finding classes, please email me: ktylove@gmail.com (this is a new email address!)

Hi TH'sM,

It looks like a website advertising English language services for Spanish medical doctors in Madrid: Engish classes, translation of medical texts into English, editing of articles, books, etc. written in English by non-native speakers, and preparation of oral presentations in English.

yep, it is Juliette's business and quite a good little market she has cut out for herself there.

that (finding a niche) is the best way to get ahead here cool

All of these exchanges of information are proving very useful to me. I'll have to think about what niche of English-language services I can develop as my own money-maker when I get to Madrid.

yes but they need not be limited to english language services.

open your mind to everything and you will have more opportunities.

Hey, sorry I didn't see the servingmed question until now. Marsha, you described it perfectly, thank you. And you're right about thinking about what might be your angle to offer while you are here. What I've found is that things expand from where you start. Note my ad now on mm looking for engineers and other scientists to do editing of articles. Someone read my card and called, even though I wasn't offering exactly what they needed. Cool!
