Hi,

I'm from South Africa and having a real hard time getting temporary residency in Spain and it doesn't help that I don't have a job offer to get a work permit either, I was told the easiest and best way would be to just marry a Spaniard and now i'm seriously considering it.My problem is how in the world do I find a spanish man willing to marry me?
Anyone have any ideas?
Cant believe i'm actually saying ,thinking about this .

hey ANN4.

well, i suppose there are 3 ways...

1) fall in love with one, get married and live happily ever after.

3) find one who wants to get south african residency, get married, get your residency here and then go work on his residency there wink

2) pay one die laughing eeker

saludos,
jer...

hi, Jer

Unfortunately at this point , I am pretty desperate ...Why do you think I'm actually considering this ?
How would you feel if your life was in Limbo for 9 months with no guarantee ?I'm in a situation where I can't move forward for 9 months , how do you think that makes me feel?
Knowing that the fate of my life lies in someone else hands ... you would be desperate too .

Are you in Spain now? Are you working at all? How long have you been here? Are you "empadronada" (registered with the ayuntamiento)? Are you planning any trips home any time soon?

Aside from getting married, the easiest way to live in Spain legally (and work part time) is to get a student visa... but you would probably have to go back to South Africa to do this.

I think a lot of us understand the sort of limbo (purgatory? hell?) that you are talking about....

HI,
I'm actually back in South Africa , my tourist visa ran out , so I had to come back , while I was in Spain a solicitor advised me to marry a spaniard , thats where the idea came from .
I'm applying for temporary residency but was told it takes 9months , I can't get a student or work visa as I don't have a job ,nor am I studying .I planned on getting a job once I got to Spain but from my understanding its illegal to work on a tourist visa ,hence my application for temporary residency.

I like the match.com idea though .

Hi Ann4,

Don't worry about what jer says. There are some decent Spanish men...heck, I married one! For love (just to clarify)... smiler kiss

As far as match.com is concerned, for what it is worth, two of my friends met their husbands through match.com.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do!
