Where does one go to file thier taxes?

I've seen loads of information on tax rates, freelance etc, but nothing on how to file your taxes. In America/Canada you simply go to the local H&R and pay 50 bucks and in five mins your taxes are filed. With a bit of luck you get some money back.

I didn't work (legally) last year so it's just my Wife and hers is straight forward as she's an employee.

Also when is the filing deadline?

Thanks Rob

Hi!

Agencia Tributaria! Enter the web page and you can search for information that you need.

Normally the Agencia Tributaria sends you a draft or a "Borrador". You can request this in the webpage itself. If you agree with the borrador when you receive it, then just fill it up and go to the bank and pay whatever you have to pay. The bank sends the form and you keep one copy that is sealed by the bank. The draft in itself should show if you would be paying or would be receiving. That simple.

Incidentally, I need to get to do my Income tax return. I recieved my draft but it would be the first time that my wife would need to file one and she hasn´t recieved hers. She started working last year and so she has to declare her income as she was working legally.

The company you work for should provide you a copy of the income earned for the year, hence from there you can work on doing your income tax return, but the draft is the best since all you have to do is agree to what the Agencia Tributaria has sent you.

Last year I had to pay 989 euros( Anyone who knows about taxes should know how much I made.) withholding tax, but again the Agencia Tributaria allows you to pay half upon filing and the other half by November.

Should you be receiving any after deductions, they (Agencia Tributaria) would be sending it through the same bank you filed it with normally within the year.

You can also do everything through the internet too if you would like to.

I haven´t done a joint income tax return for two incomes so I have to talk to someone regarding this matter.

Last day is the 30th of June but it is best to file it by mid june.

Regards.

note I did find an English speaking tax guy here in Tres Cantos, if anyone needs one PM me, don't have the address off hand.

I found it interesting that it was all done over the Internet and when he went to fill it was rejected, apparently I still needed to make one more round through the bureaucratic maze. Quick trip to Colemenar a few buttons pushed and only 18 months of hassle and I am finally legal!!!!!!
