Hi, I'm planning on moving to Madrid in September first to do a CELTA course and later to hopefully find work teaching English. I'm American so I know that any job I find would be "under the table" which I don't mind doing short term. However, I would like to live in Spain permanently and I can't really spend the rest of my life "sin papeles." I was wondering if I let the schools know that I'd like to stay long term and can prove to them that I'm a good teacher, would any schools even consider helping me get a work permit? Also, what would happen if I married a Spaniard (my boyfriend is from Spain so it's a possibility down the road)? What I mean is if I am in Spain illegally could the authorities somehow refuse to let me marry a Spaniard or not give me residency after I was married? Thanks for the help!
