Hi everyone,
Firstly what a good website!
My boyfriend and I are coming to live in Madrid from London in August. Can anyone recommend the best kind of area to live in? Boyfriend is a teacher and hoping to find work, ideally in an international school. I am a National Account Manager so will be looking for something to do with business.
What would be the best bit of Madrid to live in, with good transport for the work bits of life, and then good bars / restaurants etc for the social bits of life?
Thanks everyone

jejejeje, take your pick Big Grin

seriously though Suzanna, this question is VERY hard to answer (too subjective). try doing a SEARCH on "neigborhoods", "places to live", etc... and read throught the related threads.

for example, the thread entitled "Help: best places to live in Madrid" HERE is a good one and there are many more like that Cool

saludos,
jer...

Hi Suzanna,

It is true, there is no one great place to live in Madrid, but so many!
I was thinking from your post that you are probably going to work for one of the multinational companies here, because I am guessing you are learning spanish at the moment???
I work for IBM and my spanish is very basic, but they are expanding at the moment and looking for new english speakers. They are located near the airport, and I also know of more American companies located in the north of Madrid (along the A6). Hope this helpswith your decision of whereabouts to live!

if i can say something, it depends on how much money you are willing to spend. We are going to move to "LA Vaguada" area, we have metro, and busses , shopping mall, lots of stores, like butcher store, fruit and veggie stores, parks...and not too expensive, 2 main hospital, public swimminpools, and...access to M30 and M40 the main rings and also direct metro line to Plaza de Castilla.
Lemoncurd, how can i send you Thms resume, he is still waiting on the mail for his NIE but it will arrive. He has a great backround, and now he is going on an intensive Spanish.
Am i being too "Cheeky"??

Thanks and Regards<br /> Ruth and Thom

Hi Ruth,

I don't have any contacts in HR to send thom's cv to. I think the best thing to do is to go to www.IBM.es and post his cv there. This is what I did and then they got in touch with me. ( I even had to sit an English listening test to be able to work there- funny really cos I AM English ) haha

Good luck with the job search
