well, following my previous posts, this is the only other option i can think of, so again, if anyone knows the exact requirements or any shortcuts (¿¿cómo no??), i'd love to hear from you.

does a spanish language course count?
how many hours a week must they study?
can the student directly contact the university and enrol in a course herself or does the US university have to request a place for her?
how long does the paperwork take?
i imagine there is a specific time only during which students can enrol in a uni course (anyone know more about this?)

thanks guys!

laveva.

please do a search on "student visa" as there are a lot of threads already on that topic.

instead of startoing as new thread on each new topic, use the SEARCH function first and you will find there is a ton of info already on the forums that answer your exact questions.

saludos,

claro!! sorry, didn't think.

(actually just as an anecdote, i did that for my initial query and found an interesting thread, which unfortunately was left mid-way through so i pm'ed the person in question to see what they did in the end to sort out the situation only to realise that the post was from 2002!! - i'm still waiting on that reply tho!! big grin)

well just to add some info to this wonderful site for future reference:

my main concern about the student visa was the cost of enrolling in a spanish university but i've just been in contact with the local college (university of oviedo) and they tell me that they offer spanish courses for foreigners that anyone can enrol in. they have monthly, quarterly and semester classes and students can study as little as 4 hours a week or up to 20 or more - something to suit everyone and the good news is that the classes range in price from approximately 230 to 1100 euros (that's for 90+/- to 450 hours studies).

when you enrol they provide you with a document that will facilitate the student visa application. let's hope that whole process is as straight forward as it seems. either way, i'll be back to provide more info on that experience for future reference!
